We had the good fortune of connecting with Arletta Chambers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arletta, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I began my business my initial thoughts were, if I make my candles will someone buy them? I wasn’t sure if I could turn selling candles into a lucrative business.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the Owner of Neauxla’s Candles & Scents, LLC. I make fragranced & therapeutic candles from a perfect soy-paraffin blend. I also produce Healing, Massage & Body Oils, Bath Salts & Soaps. Additionally, I make Private Label Candles for other companies; where I blend & name their fragrances as well! Most of my fragrances I blend on my own to create the perfect scent. All of the names of my candles are dedicated to New Orleans, the city where I was born and raised! I never in a million years thought I would be where I am, as far as my business is concerned. But I must say, it wasn’t easy. I spent a lot of money, time & energy trying to perfect all of my products. However I can always hear my mother in the back of my head saying, “practice makes perfect!” I’ve learned since I started my business that the people closest to you won’t support your work, but the people you’d never think would support truly do. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? I, along with my brand and story are all unique. WE, stand out in any situation. All of my scents are blended to perfection and when you see my label, you’ll know it’s me, Neauxla!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
