We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Flowers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Honestly, probably the amount of thought and planning that goes into it. It’s important to me that I’m providing my clients with the absolute best experience. From location scouting for family sessions to planning set ups for Christmas minis in May lol I am always challenging myself to provide my clients with an even better experience than the previous one.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer, but I also like to think of myself as a memory maker. I think what sets me apart from others in my field is how fun and relaxed my sessions are. I love spending time during sessions chatting with clients, getting to know them and their families. We play games, joke, and have lots of laughs. I love watching kiddos come out of their shells, especially as I have clients come back to me again and again. Im excited about everything honestly, lol. It probably sounds cheesy but I absolutely love what I do. From planning sessions, to shooting and editing, I love every part of it and I think that shows. I am so proud of how much my little business has grown over the past year and all of the amazing opportunities it has granted me. I have had the opportunity to meet and work with some pretty amazing and inspiring people.
I can’t say that things have always been easy, as a mom of two little ones it was very hard for me to find balance in the beginning. It’s always been important to me that I am fully present when I am with my children, which can be difficult when you work from home lol.
I think the biggest lesson I have learned along the way is never to compare yourself to others. People love you for you and your work. If they wanted to use someone else they would. The only person I want to be better than is who I was yesterday.
I want the world to know that this is more than just a job or hobby for me. I absolutely love what I do and am just excited for them and their sessions as they are.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh goodness, that is a good question. I think the amazing thing about our city is all of their amazing stuff there is to do. Majority of my friends have kiddos the same ages as mine so most of our time is spent doing fun actives with them such as visiting the zoo or local museums. When we are able to get away from the kiddos we love just going somewhere to eat and catch up with one another.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I am surrounded by an incredible group of family and friends who have always supported me from the very beginning. They have all pushed me to be the absolute best I can be from encouraging me to take the leap to start this business in the beginning, to sharing and promoting my business with others. I wouldn’t be where I am today without any of them.
