We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Washburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Before my career in real estate I noticed I had a very entrepreneurial spirit. Although I was always working for someone else, I noticed I always had an “owner’s mindset”.

At some point, I realized something important: I was already operating like a business owner—I just didn’t have ownership. That is when I decided to take a chance on myself and dove head first into real estate.

This wasn’t a sudden decision. It was a natural progression.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business was built intentionally, not overnight. What sets me apart is that I don’t just focus on transactions—I focus on people, relationships, process, and long-term results. I believe real estate should be handled with clarity, strategy, and integrity, and every decision I make reflects that standard.

I came into this business by doing the work from the ground up. Over time, my role grew beyond serving my own clients. I began mentoring agents, building systems, and helping shape standards that impacted others.

It wasn’t easy. Growth rarely is. I faced the same challenges many entrepreneurs do—learning to balance leadership with service, navigating uncertainty, and making hard decisions without guarantees. I overcame those challenges by staying disciplined, staying teachable, and trusting my ability to adapt. When something didn’t work, I fixed it. When something needed to be built, I built it the right way, not the fast way.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned are that consistency matters more than perfection, integrity always outlasts shortcuts, and success is built through relationships—not volume alone. I’ve also learned that clarity creates confidence, both for clients and for teams, and that strong systems allow people to do their best work.

What I’m most proud of is the reputation my business carries. My name stands for professionalism, preparedness, and care. Clients know they will be guided honestly. Agents know they will be supported and challenged to grow. That trust is something I protect fiercely.

What I want the world to know about my brand is simple: it’s built on substance. I didn’t build my business to be the loudest in the room—I built it to be reliable, respected, and lasting. My story isn’t about taking shortcuts or chasing trends. It’s about doing the work, earning trust, and building something meaningful—one relationship, one decision, and one standard at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week and I wanted them to truly experience the best of Southeast Texas—not just tourist spots, but the places locals actually love—I’d plan something that blends food, community, culture, and a little fun chaos (because that’s SETX).

We’d start slow and local. Morning coffee at the Golden Cup would be the first stop to get us going followed by local shopping on historic Boston Avenue.

Lunch at Judice’s 1927 or Touch of Cajun to get authentic cajun cuisine. Then take a stroll down by the river in Port Neches.

Dinner and live music on the water at the Neches Wheelhouse – great food, good energy and very Southeast Texas.

We would end the day with a nightcap at Sorella’s Wine Bar which is a must!

What I love most—and what I’d want my best friend to see—is that Southeast Texas isn’t about flash. It’s about:

Genuine people

Strong community

Incredible food

Being close to everything without the chaos

The most interesting part of this area isn’t just the places—it’s the people. Business owners, families, leaders, creatives—people who care deeply about where they live and who they show up for.

That’s what makes our area special.
And once you experience it, it stays with you.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
No one builds a career alone, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people and experiences that shaped mine.

First, my clients—for trusting me with some of the biggest decisions of their lives. Their referrals, loyalty, and confidence in me are the foundation of everything I’ve built.

My broker, Heather Lange, and the mentors, and leaders before her who challenged me, trusted me with responsibility, and expected excellence—the standards they set and the opportunities they gave me to grow beyond my comfort zone.

My right-hand, friend and transaction coordinator, Whitney Wilson. There is no way I could have accomplished what I have without her. She’s quite literally holding me together some days.

My family, who supported late nights, long conversations, hard decisions, and big goals—huge shoutout to them for believing in me even when the path wasn’t clear or easy.

And finally, to the version of myself who chose discipline over comfort, growth over fear, and integrity over shortcuts.
