Hi ASHLEY, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My journey to starting my own business, SDM Online Solutions, has been an enlightening experience. I’ve always been driven and entrepreneurial, and my passion for empowering women has been constant. Initially, this manifested in my own beauty brand. However, despite my passion, I struggled to connect with my ideal clients online. I felt frustrated and confused, much like many of the businesses I later worked with at the marketing firm.

This experience, both as a business owner and a marketing professional, profoundly shaped my understanding of the importance of effective digital marketing. I witnessed firsthand the lack of transparency and the confusion that often-plagued businesses when working with traditional agencies. I realized there was a gap in the market for a personalized and affordable approach to online marketing, particularly for solopreneurs and small business owners.

Now, I’m dedicated to helping other amazing women navigate the complexities of digital marketing. Drawing on my personal experiences and professional expertise, I guide them through search engine optimization (SEO), content creation, and social media strategies. I take a holistic approach to their SEO, employing innovative strategies to enhance their online visibility and attract their ideal clients. My goal is to empower them with the knowledge and tools they need to reach their target audience, build a strong online presence, and achieve their business goals. I believe that by understanding the power of digital marketing, women can authentically represent their brands and connect with their ideal clients in a meaningful way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What truly sets SDM Online Solutions apart is our personalized approach. I believe every business is unique, with its own set of challenges and goals. Some might have a dedicated marketing team, while others are solopreneurs wearing every hat imaginable. But regardless of their size or structure, they all need clarity and actionable steps to reach their ideal clients.

Since starting SDM, I’ve had the privilege of guiding over 120 businesses on their SEO journey. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them implement the strategies we’ve developed together and witness their online growth. This has been achieved through a multifaceted approach, including my own workshops, partnerships with organizations like Baker Ripley, Mala Market, IFEL, and empowering women’s communities such as The Beauty Boost Houston and The Houston Hotties. I’m also thrilled to be partnering with SCORE in 2025 to further expand our reach and impact. These collaborations have allowed me to reach a wider audience and provide accessible SEO education and support to businesses across various sectors.

Getting here wasn’t always easy. There were definitely times of doubt and uncertainty. I learned to push through those challenges by reminding myself that consistent action, even when it feels like nothing is happening, is key. It’s like planting seeds – you don’t expect every one to bloom immediately, but you must continue to nurture them.

Here are a few key lessons I’ve learned along the way:

1) Embrace the “uncharted territory.” The most significant growth often happens when you step outside your comfort zone.
2) You don’t need to have it all figured out before you start. Take that first step and learn as you go.
3) Consistent action is key. Even small, consistent efforts will compound over time.
4) Your voice matters. Share your expertise with the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As outgoing introverts, my best friend and I have the perfect balance. We love cozy nights in our comfiest outfits, watching our favorite movies and enjoying some good conversation. But we also crave those moments of adventure and exploration.
We’d definitely be doing some serious cafe hopping, of course! As the ‘match and chia latte duo,’ we’d be drawn to spots with that cute, girly vibe, like Matcha Mia. But we’d also be open to discovering new hidden gems and trying new things together.
We’d explore the city and definitely indulge in some delicious food at local, woman-owned restaurants. And of course, we’d make sure to leave plenty of room for relaxation and self-care since our life is naturally always on go. So simply enjoying each other’s company and exploring.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my incredible family. My husband and kids have been my unwavering pillars of support, constantly encouraging me to pursue my dreams and cheering me on every step of the way. Their love and belief in me have been instrumental in my success.

This year, I’ve also been incredibly grateful for the supportive and uplifting women’s communities that have become such an integral part of my journey. Stepping out of my comfort zone and actively networking has been a significant part of my growth. These communities have provided safe spaces for women entrepreneurs to connect, share their experiences, and learn from each other. I’ve learned firsthand the power of being present, both in person and within these online communities. The connections I’ve made and the support I’ve received have been invaluable.
