Meet Ashli Garcia

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashli Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashli, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk has played a huge factor not only in my career but also in my life itself. I lost both of my parents to cancer between the age of 20-21, I had a lot of growing up to do in such a short time frame every choice I made was a risk. What job I had , would I be able to cover bills, and just everything that came with that. That truly has molded me into the person I am today, last year I took a risk and put all of my savings into a salon and spa suite with my business partner not knowing if we were gonna make it and just rolled the dice. Here we are coming up on a year and it has been the biggest blessing taking that risk.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are salon and Spa Bonita Vida located in the medical Center in San Antonio Texas. My business partner and I met while sitting in the stands when our sons played football together. We talked about how she was a cosmetologist and I an aesthetic injector and we discussed for about 6 months about starting our own business and in March of 2024 I gave all my savings to put in for our salon and spa location and went all in. We are about to hit our first year in April 2025 and we couldn’t be happier with how far we have come. We learned by trial and error what works and doesn’t work as far as employees, home/work life, and more about ourselves over this last year.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend come to San Antonio, we would go to Riverwalk and check out the sites, ride the riverboat, check out the pubs and bars downtown, like alibis and the Texan. We would also go check out the Pearl and eat at southerly and sit and people watch as they play on the artificial grassy area under the umbrellas. We would also go check out el Camino , lucky duck, and Bentleys to name a few. You meet some amazing people all over the city from la cantera, to stone oak, Alamo ranch to downtown people are amazing here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out goes to my business partner Kathy, she has definitely been the glue to our business and has been my biggest inspiration to push and pursue our dream of being salon and spa owners.
