We had the good fortune of connecting with ATX Cypher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ATX, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’m a hiphop artist out of Austin, Texas. The hip hop scene is rich in talent but the audience doesn’t seem to be there. Enough to make it out to shows and make a difference in the artist careers at least it seemed to me. So I wanted to put together an event that would give Austin, Texas emcees a larger stage to perform at other than SXSW which most unknown artist get thrown to some side show doesn’t really so much for thier career. I also wanted to do it for hip hop fans in Austin. There is no multi-day camping hip hop event in any shape or form in Austin and I’d like to make that a thing! Hip hop acts are tied into other but don’t really have thier own place in Austin I felt lik, so I decided with my rich network or fellow artist I could easy throw an all day hip hop event together!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My rap style is lyrically driven. Double entendres, metaphors, rhyme schemes. It seems a lot of white rappers tend to lean thay way vs a more vibe beat heavy type of style of today’s popular hip hop. Where I think my music is different from most is I have a little of both. Well I’d like to think I have a lot of the lyricall and a little of the sqagger vibe I think you need to have an enjoyable sound in hip hop.

But how I’m really different is my ambition and work ethic. Ever since I came onto the scene all I hear from people is about how they always see my name and me working and really respect it. I think a lot of people lack follow through where I do not.

Hey, I came up with the idea for a hip hop music festival on a Facebook post and now it’s happening June 11 2022! 😁😁

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m in Austin so I woul have to recommend getting to my music festival Barz, Jarz, & Cigarz on June 11th. It’s going to be the next biggest thing in Austin hip hop so don’t miss the train!!

But if it’s nots around that time then u would say make sure you get down to Flamingo Cantina to check out Dominican Jay and Dj Jros monthly ATX Hip hop showcase there I played it before and it cycles through all the talent mo matter popularity once a month! Always a great time!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d have to put it all into my daughter. She’s 10 now. When I had her I was on the same path as many young males.. just getting into trouble not really doing much with my life. The minute I had my daughter I knew things had to change. I was workin at a sub sandwich shop at the time for minimum wage with a studio apartment I couldn’t afford. This is when I got out there found a better job and ended uo workin my way into a position where I am able to provide the life I want for her and put together cool thing for the community loke this festival! She’s my everything!!
