We had the good fortune of connecting with Aye Baker Bizzy Bee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aye Baker, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is scary. But true success never came from being comfortable. You can’t fully discover yourself if you don’t push your own boundaries. What feels safe could hinder your purpose. I tried things the “normal” way until I realized nothing about me is normal. If you trap me in an office… you are confining a creative mind to a fixed process. It’s imprisonment for a steady check off someone else’s idea. But many make it fit, because it’s “normal”. We follow what the world thinks, instead of speaking our own truth; because there is less resistance… it’s too risky… someone might hear us. It makes no sense. Taking risks does not mean endangering you and those around you… those are not the right risks. It simply means taking the jump knowing you can swim…. even if you don’t know how deep the water is.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am still on my journey of being recognized as a professional in the industry. Writing is just extremely easy for me in song and lyrical format. My biggest challenge has been overcoming myself… getting out of my own way…. recognizing my value in this world…. what do I truly have to offer? Why am I here? Why.. when everything else falls apart, do my words become cemented together so beautifully? Why are people continually impacted by what I write? What am I supposed to do with this self-awareness? I am here because God allowed me to survive, so I owe it to Him to tell my story. My story separates me and makes me relatable at the same time. And having people hug me after a show, or just simply understand is just indescribably amazing. I want to bring peace, and healing, and smiles. That’s it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely to East Atlanta and Krog St. area! The artwork is so urban and superdope!!! Of course we would have to take the ride down Peachtree. An art exhibit… Definitely some clubs and after hours spots! Shout out to Republic and to The Cigar Bar! Piedmont Park. Starlite Drive in. mannn.. there are so many places!!!! Let’s keep some a secret lol!!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God. He has been there with me through EVERYTHING! I am a screw up on my own. My children just for the love and motivation to want more for them. A very dear friend of mine who has put up with my crap and consistently strived to see me do better for myself. The Atlanta music and night industry as well, for continuing to allow me to perform, interview and network. Last but not least… Everyone who tried to block me. It made me stronger.
