We had the good fortune of connecting with B Prince and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi B, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my travel business when I was living in California back in 2018. At the time, I just moved to a new city I started a new job and could not really afford the lifestyle that I truly thought I deserved (LOL). I wanted to create a lifestyle that I enjoyed while also helping others experience the joy I have when traveling, I have been traveling since I was in the womb-according to my mom-and it is something that I absolutely enjoy. Travel is and will forever be a part of my life, so I thought why not turn something I am truly passionate about into a form of income?
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Like many small businesses, my business is a team of one. I am responsible for every aspect of my business for now and I truly enjoy it. Every one of my clients receives personalized attention and customer service when working with me. I do not subscribe to a one fits all motto, especially when giving suggestions. I really focus on providing a luxury experience for every client.
Today much of my business is through word of mouth which I truly feel is a testament to my success. Of course, I will continue to generate leads through marketing but a lot of my business is earned through feedback from my client which is truly what I am proud of.
Surviving the pandemic was probably the most devasting time for me as a business owner. It truly taught me some valuable lessons which I will apply to not only my personal life but also my business. Luckily, my business survived and my clients have returned.
TripwithB is truly a homegrown business started by a woman from Harlem who took her talents to Htown. If you are looking for a personal touch and creating your travel dreams, we are who you should get to know.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So, one of the most incredible things about Houston is the plethora of Black- Owned Businesses and restaurants!-So we will have to support those things while we are visiting.
As a person in the travel industry, I am only staying at the Post Oak Hotel- not that there no other nice hotels however I like this one for the location and ambiance.
We would definitely have to visit a few of the museums, the HOUSTON MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE, Buffalo Soldiers Museum etc.
Take some time to visit Emancipation Park and also do a Third Ward Bike Tour. On each of those days, we could try plenty of restaurants such as the Breakfast Klub, dinner at The Warwick, Kulture or Thirteen.
First, all roads lead to church service on Sunday at either Higher Dimension or The Lighthouse Church, followed by Brunch at one of my favorite restaurants in the city Graces. Then we begin with Sunday Funday. I like to kick off my Sunday Funday at Bar 5015 for some drink. If we still have energy then we can end up at Faces if we do not fill like moving far OR we can do Upper Kirby Bistro.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a special shoutout to my husband Mr. Prince. It may sound cliche but he is truly an incredible inspiration and support for my business. He traveled growing up but not quite as extensively as I had prior to getting together. When we got together, it was really important that we shared traveling the world as a hobby and he suggested that I start my business. He is constantly encouraging me to take risks in the business and truly tries to fill in the gaps i my personal life so that I can focus on my business.
