We had the good fortune of connecting with Barak B. Yisrael Bey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barak B., can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From an early age I’ve always had a desire to build an empire to leave for future generations. As a person who didn’t come from wealth, I had to learn the hard way the importance of having generational wealth.

After working a few years under major corporations, I understood a 9-5 would not get me to my financial goals so I began to explore entrepreneurship.

What should our readers know about your business?
Since taking on our first clients, Amni Financial has built a reputation as the go-to in the Houston area for tax preparation and asset management. Each member of our team serves as an expert in their niche, keeping track of their respective industries so that our clients receive the most specific and accurate guidance available. For individuals looking for help with tax filing, we offer a personal touch and precision that is unattainable with do-it-yourself software. For businesses, we provide services that assess overall financial health, and we deliver regular reports that are clear, digestible and actionable. Our Motto is “We are in the business of making you money and protecting you and your family’s hard earned assets. We are Safe, We are Efficient, We are Convenient, WE ARE AMNI”.

We are confident in our strategies, because we have grown a clientele base pretty quickly, primarily based on word-to-mouth. Once someone is educated and develops a plan with us on how they can position themselves financially in order to gain value out of their assets, it’s just a matter of executing and watching them grow after that. Seeing our clients successes is very rewarding.
We haven’t grown to where we are without learning a thing or two along the way. With growth comes growing pains, but we have learned that taking certain risks and not being afraid to fail can open up many possibilities that were not presented before. Furthermore, we could not have gotten to where we are right now without placing faith in people, and asking for help when we need it. Communication, collaboration, and brainstorming ideas is key to building anything, because a collective effort towards one goal is always stronger than a single one.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Houston area is very diverse and there are so many activities to get into, depending on what you are looking for. You could spend the day downtown traversing the underground tunnels, catching an event at the George R. Brown convention center, then drive aimlessly amongst the countless graffiti walls browsing eclectic art. You could walk amongst the beautiful Centennial Gardens next to Discovery Green park, and catch an outdoor concert on the lawn.

Just a heads up, come very hungry because we love going to Astor Farm to Table South African and Argentinian cuisine in Katy, Izakaya Hi, The Hive Vegan Eatery, and Joey Uptown in The Galleria for a diverse upscale dining experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my son Braylon and daughter Harloh, there’s not a day that goes by where I’m not thinking about you both and my love and devotion will show not only spiritually, but physically. You shall be the beneficiary’s of all I in-trust you with to be sure your life is rich and full of wealth; not just financially but in health and knowledge as well.

You two are the reasons why I stand with strength, honor, and integrity. I walk in this because I need you to know the best example and not have to search for it as I did. Thank you for making me stay focused. You two are my world and I love you both greatly; always remember this.

In the midst of my journey, I met Nancy Annor, my Co-Founder/CFO of Amni Financial who quickly became a major pillar in the building of Amni. She also is extremely supportive, loyal, fully invested, my best friend and mi amor. I consider her in every move I make. She continues to impress me daily and we grow stronger with each challenge we overcome together.

Lastly but not least, Shalena Kilgore. This woman has always been here for me and sacrificed everything to make sure I had everything I needed. I cannot remember a time she wasn’t doing all she could to be there for me and to support everything I set my ambitions toward. As my mother and greatest friend, nothing could ever defeat the amount of love I have for you. Thank you for always being there for me.
