We had the good fortune of connecting with Barett Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barett, what role does tech play in your business?
Technology plays a huge role in the way we work since Photography Editing & Camera technology is always improving in terms of making images look more beautiful. We personally use Digital Medium Format cameras(PhaseOne & Pentax) which is the latest and greatest in camera technology for all the weddings and sessions we capture. Most wedding photographers are happy with using 35mm cameras which we personally feel do give clients a lower level of photographic quality.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to capturing weddings, engagements or bridals we really try to personalize the sessions. Looking at the engagement & bridal session portfolios of CivicPhotos will show you such a wide variety of excellently captured love stories in various settings. Although it’s not easy to have consistently great work in various settings we feel that showing our vast experience in this area allows our future clients to have confidence in us to document and make them look fantastic regardless of the setting. We love the art behind bringing out beautiful emotions and documenting it forever in a photograph…its really something that gets us excited every time we shoot photography for a new client.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
We would suggest you start your trip with a day spent in Galveston watching the sunrise then passing through the Galveston Strand so that you could see the vintage buildings & history of the island. Stopping by Hotel Galvez for brunch would be a must and then heading out to the Historic Galveston Pleasure Pier. On a different day I suggest going to the Sabine Street/Bayou Park area for sightseeing then swing by the Dunlavy to eat lunch and then have dinner at Peli Peli in the Galleria. The following days I would suggest grabbing Wings & Waffles at the Breakfast Klub then Hermann Park probably doing lunch at Hotel Zaza. The rest of the week time could be divided up between the City Centre, Discovery Green Park, the Houston Water Wall and the Kemah Boardwalk. Houston has great indian food at Aga’s and countless Vietnamese spots to eat at so I would suggest exploring some of those for certain.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
CivicPhotos has so many individuals & companies which have contributed to our success!!!! Locally have had fantastic partnerships with Weddings in Houston, Wedding Wire & The Knot to name a few. Since we capture wedding photography with an editorially focused style we also have had the privilege of being featured on hundreds of wedding blogs and we are so thankful to all of them for promoting our work! Lastly we have had the honor of documenting such beautiful couples with beautiful stories and such clients are really at the center of why we are continuing to be successful.
