We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca O’Sullivan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Becca, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My love for brows led me to start my own business, driven by a desire to offer more personalized treatments than the typical salon experience. In Chicago, I built a loyal client base, and when I moved to Houston, I introduced myself through pop-ups to connect with my new community and share my passion. As my business grew, I realized that success isn’t just about skill—it’s about building trust, staying current with trends, and creating a strong presence both online and in person. More than anything, I want my clients to feel confident and valued, making every appointment an experience, not just a service.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an Esthetician and brow stylist based in Houston, specializing in shaping, waxing, threading, tinting, lamination, and lash lifts. What sets my work apart is the personalized approach I bring to each client. I focus not just on enhancing their natural features but also on creating an environment that makes them feel confident and cared for. I take the time to understand their unique style and preferences, ensuring that every service feels tailored to them.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built through my work. Whether it’s first-time clients or those who have been with me for years, I love creating a space where people feel welcomed and valued. It’s not just about beauty—it’s about self-expression and empowerment.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. One of the biggest challenges I faced was moving from Chicago to Houston and having to start over. Building a new clientele, establishing my name in a new city, and proving myself all over again was intimidating. But I stayed consistent, focused on the quality of my work, and enjoyed creative ways to connect with people—whether through social media, funny stickers, word-of-mouth, or just providing an experience that made people want to come back and spread the word. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and the power of genuine connections.

One of the biggest things I could tell someone beginning Esthetics is the importance of authenticity. People connect with realness, and that’s what I always strive to bring to my work. To me being an Esthetician and doing Brows is more than just the service—it’s a passion, a craft, and a way to uplift others. My story is about dedication, creativity, and rebuilding something meaningful, and I’m excited to see where it continues to grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has so much to offer and enjoy, its hard to pin down the everything but here are my favorites… I pretty much always love to take a friend to Handies in Montrose for incredible hand rolls and great service. Drinks would either be at Grand Prize or Toasted Coconut. A visit to the Menil and the Rothko Chapel is definitely a must. For Tattoos we could stop into Cry Later or Houston Heights Tattoo and also get a piercing there, they have a great selection of gold jewelry! Coffee we could go to a few spots but definitely Native in Midtown and Antidote in the Heights. And to change it up we could take a trip out to Galveston and explore the Strand and check out the architecture then have a drink at Daiquiri Time Out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My partner Brandon has been incredibly supportive and encouraging our whole relationship but especially with my transition to bringing my business to another city. I also really want to thank my friends who truly did believe I would do well here and Shay for bringing me on at her salon.
