Meet Bekah Harper | Owner & Lead Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bekah Harper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bekah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My passion for teaching and practicing Pure Barre grew into a vocation for me, and I was blessed enough to be able to follow my dreams!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Pure Barre is more than just a fitness routine to me, it’s a passion that has kept me wanting more, year after year. Since starting Pure Barre in 2016, I was simply trying to expand my work out regimen, but quickly fell in love with the technique and group fitness concept, and immediately wanted to teach it. My passion grew deeper as I graduated into Lead Instructor, and from there, my fire was officially lit! Many years later, here I am the proud owner of my very own Pure Barre located in Jersey Village. Having zero background in management or sales, and previously a humble little stay at home mom, I was jumping in head first to the unknown bliss of Business Ownership, and heavily relied on my vocation and prayers to steer me in the correct direction. The growth I have gained in just a little over a year since being open, is insurmountable. I have gone from ’drinking from a fire hydrant’ to finally getting the hang of it. I’ve learned a lot of hard and expensive lessons, but I am thrilled to see where Pure Barre Jersey Village will be in 5 years, and beyond! The amount of lives we’ll have touched, and perhaps even changed, will be worth all the sweat and tears…maybe a little blood too!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are loads of amazing things I could conquer in a week w a friend! A concert is first on the list, Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion is practically in my backyard, but House of Blues also offers amazing bands, with a smaller, more interesting venue. If we’re already downtown, I’d visit Four Seasons for brunch!! An Astros game is a must do, including pregame cocktails at the Westin across the street! The Galleria offers the best shopping in town, but also the most abundant and diverse restaurant selections as well! Living in The Woodlands, Tommy Bahama’s is a must! With live music, specialty cocktails, and island themed menu, you’re bound to come back, again and again!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daughter, Kaylynne, deserves full credit for any and all things great that I’ve accomplished in my lifetime. She was my inspiration to be strong, and set a good example for her as a young mother, and she continues to be my inspiration today, as I watch her grow into her own skin, as she transforms into a woman herself.
