Meet Ben Reynolds | CEO of Sure Dividend

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Reynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Sure Dividend back in 2014. The idea behind Sure Dividend is that investing in high quality dividend growth stocks for the long run is a powerful and accessible way to build wealth over the long-run.

Further, I believed that the information needed to build and maintain such a portfolio could most efficiently be communicated online. That way, the costs of Sure Dividend’s research could be spread out over many (now more than 8,000) members, in order to provide a quality service at a tiny fraction of the cost of the value it provides.

What should our readers know about your business?
Sure Dividend is one of the largest dividend-focused investing sites. What sets us apart is the level of high quality research we do. We currently create quarterly research reports for more than 850 income securities.

This is real analysis done by our analysts. It’s not a quick ‘gut feel’ idea, or a simple computer screen. We put in the work to help our members find the best income securities, while avoiding mediocre or worse investments.

We cover these 850+ securities over the same metrics that matters. This allows our members to compare different income investments to each other on an apples-to-apples basis.

All of this analysis is done in the Sure Analysis Research Database. It has been a journey of continuous reinvestment and improvement to get to where we are today.

When I started Sure Dividend in 2014, it was just me. Our first service (which is still around today!) was the Sure Dividend Newsletter. We launched the Sure Analysis Research Database, where we cover the 850+ securities quarterly (for 3,400+ individual reports annually) in 2018.

We launched Sure Analysis with a tiny fraction of the security coverage we have now. We’ve grown our coverage universe over time as our business has grown, and plan to continue growing the number of securities we cover going forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has an incredible food scene. It’s not often mentioned, but Houston is either the most or second most (behind only New York City) diverse city in the U.S. And that diversity drives all the great food in the city.

There’s great Pho spots throughout the city. Pho Ben on Shepherd is a current favorite. And visitors should try the buffet at Kim Son for a wide variety of Vietnamese food.

Houston also has a tremendous amount of great Tex-Mex and Mexican food. Goode Co. Cantina, Lupe Tortilla, and Cyclone Anayas all make for delicious, and filling, choices.

And of course with Houston being in Texas, we have great barbeque as well. A reasonably priced barbeque restaurant is The Brisket House.

There are so many amazing restaurants in Houston. There’s something for everyone here!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We now have a team of 20, including myself, at Sure Dividend. We would not be where we are without all of the work our amazing team does.

I feel lucky to be able to work with so many incredibly intelligent investors. There’s always something new happening in the world of investing. Together our team creates thousands of research reports and articles every year, both free and premium, to serve other investors.

In addition to the team at Sure Dividend, I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents and my wife. I’m lucky to have a great support system that has always encouraged me.
