We had the good fortune of connecting with Benjamin Karner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Benjamin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My kids are growing up in an online generation and I wanted to find a way to combine their online interests with a love for the outdoors. I grew up fishing and wanted to give them the skills to become anglers. From these thoughts, We Go Fishing was born. Generally, my children do most of the filming and videography. My wife is the premier angler, I provide the know-how, and do the video editing. It is a total family effort and our goal is to inspire other families to get outside. We want to see families enjoying the outdoors like we do!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are a Southeast Texas fishing couple. We love to share our adventures with others and teach people the skill necessary to find success. We continue to learn and develop our skills on the water with the hope that others will see what we do and want to do it themselves. We realize our hobbies are a niche and not many couple fish together. We want to show others the joy of a marriage relationship that can share it these experiences together.

A wise person once said, “Nothing worth accomplishing is easy.” Success comes with hard work and dedication. If you have a dream and a goal, you owe it to yourself to take strides to accomplish it. There have been setbacks and learning experiences, but through these experiences, we grow and develop. The struggles are what make us better. We have learned numerous lessons as we forge ahead in this space, especially how to deal with detractors. We think that our success is the best way to deal with the nay-sayers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Beach fishing is one of our favorite things to do. The beach is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy creation. We would take them to the beach and enjoy the sand and surf. Then, we would take them to a local seafood restaurant or a Mexican restaurant to enjoy drinks and local fare.

We would probably try to charter an off-shore fishing trip so they could enjoy the best the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. We would take an air-boat exploration tour of the bayous to find alligators and other local wildlife. There is so much to do and enjoy in southeast Texas, especially if you love the outdoors!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Once we began in the baby-steps of our creator content, an amazingly talented videographer and angler, Stanley Orchard, found our channel. He has been incredibly helpful and inspiring. We have developed a personal relationship and have enjoyed getting to know him. His channel is much like ours and we love seeing his adventures as well!
