We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Webster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bethany, we are hopeless romantics and so we’d like to start by asking you about how you met the love of your life?
My husband Sam has no recollection of the first time we met because he had a concussion. We met in Vail, Colorado where we both worked for a couple of winters, and he had just been in a snow boarding accident when I showed up for my first day of work. I remember him showing some of our co-workers his broken snowboard and describing the accident, and we introduced ourselves and I remember thinking he was cute and really nice. He is from England and was traveling around the world for a year, I’m from Texas and had just graduated from college, and we both found ourselves in Vail thoroughly enjoying the ski bum life. We gradually started spending more time together with our mutual friends and then one day the two of us became inseparable. At the end of that winter I invited him to come stay in Texas for a few weeks, and when it was time for him to go home I dropped him at the airport thinking I probably would never see him again. When we said goodbye he told me that he would marry me one day and I laughed thinking that was so hilarious. A month later I visited him in England and got to know his wonderful family. At that time I had signed a contract to spend a year teaching English in Taiwan and so off I went, again thinking that would be the last time we would see each other. It just seemed too impossible. Sam had decided to go back to Vail, but came to see me in Taiwan before his job started. That whole year we kept in touch with letters and emails and quick visits. When I got home to Texas he came to visit me again, and on my 25th birthday he proposed to me and we got married the next year. Two countries, two houses, 11 years and three kids later we are still inseparable and I still tease him about how he doesn’t even remember meeting me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a family photographer based in Houston, Texas. I began taking photos while traveling, and then of my children, and now I get to work with so many lovely families as I’m invited into their lives to capture special moments. I love that I get to tell stories through my work, and I love how different each story is.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
My favorite spot in the city is our backyard! Would you like a margarita?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Sam who always says “Go for it!” and somehow truly believes I can do anything. My family and friends who offer so much helpful feedback, support and cocktails.
