We had the good fortune of connecting with Betsy Doukane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Betsy, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Fluff & Stuff TX Cotton Candy- My daughters love cotton candy, we purchase a cotton candy machine for one of their birthday parties, then a friend asked me if I can spin at her daughter’s birthday, I started posting about it without the intention of making this a small business; it just went viral! An event planner reached out for a collab and when she posted on social media it really exposed me out there, I started to receive numerous requests for bookings.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For the past 13 years I have been working for a Property Management firm based in South Florida, I provide bookkeeping and consulting to the firm, it was a typical 8:30 to 5:30 pm job, then in 2016 I started working remotely from home, this allowed me to juggle work and family life, having more time with family it did influence in thinking of launching the Cotton Candy and more catering business, it has really worked beautifully, or course it has some disadvantages, however with dedication and patience we have come through few obstacles.

Houston has been welcoming and supportive of my small business, little by little I have been growing to be the most popular and favorite in the industry, being dedicated to provide excellent customer service and a great experience to any event, such dedication and perseverance contributed to be part of great events in town such as the Pre Game Halloween party for the Houston Texans and then two exclusive events for the Houston Texans Corporate Partners and Family Members; also we were part of the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at The River Oaks Shoppes.

I will continue to provide the best and dedicated service to make parties, gatherings and events memorable and sweet!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Actually my mother and sisters are coming soon to visit, we are going to:

For Brunch -The Honey Hole HTX

Lunch – Central Market has the best sandwiches!

Boba Tea – we would like to head to Katy Asian Town they have great selection of Tea Houses.

Dinner – well there are some many great places… however we are excited to go to Savoir Houston.

It’s Rodeo week, so we might go there too! during the weekend we will got to the Museum District to visit a couple of museums.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this Shoutout to my family for helping with making this small and emerging business great, with every event we grow, my husband and our two daughters have been fantastic; many early mornings my family was there helping me prep and load for events, many nights that I arrived home late from events, they have been understanding and patience with me!

This fabulous women have been inspiration and great support system for me:

Mili Fernando- She started posting about our cotton candy cart, it just went viral! did not get a lot of followers but I surely did get bookings!
