We had the good fortune of connecting with Beverly Adaeze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beverly, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Back when I worked for other companies, my weekly schedule was set. Now that I am in a new season and working mainly from home, it has been a challenge to find a schedule that I can stick to. I have to be really intentional with my cut off time otherwise, I may be up late answering emails or doing business related things. I also have to be intentional about resting and socializing on the weekends
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my brand apart from others is the authenticity. In this social media world, it is easy and tempting to conform to what other content creators are doing and pushing out content just because you want to get views. I always say I don’t “force the funny.” If you remain authentic to yourself, people can tell.
There was a point in time when I was tempted to switch up my content because I felt like I was “doing too much” by posting comedic videos. I quickly realized that although I am more than just funny videos, a big part of who I am is being a funny girl and that’s ok.
I never intended to have my platform. I never wished for it and I never expected it. It is something that I believe God has given me and I am grateful for it. I want to make sure that I am using my platform wisely and managing it well.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to the Color Factory, The Houston Zoo, The Galleria for some shopping
For places to eat, I would take them to Grace’s for brunch on a Sunday, Original Chop shop for healthy bowls. I love cultural foods so I’d take them to Aga’s for Indian cuisine, Marie’s African Flavor for Cameroonian food, and Cool Runnings Jamaican grill for the best Jamaican food.
For something interactive, I’d take them to a cooking class at Sur La table and end with a stroll around the River Oaks area or Discovery Green
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Jesus first and foremost because my gift of humor is exactly that, a gift. There are also people who I’ve encountered in life who have encouraged me and helped me to get out of my shell. My close friends also deserve recognition for always giving me honest feedback and supporting me
