We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake Bloodworth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blake, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by so many different things. Inspiration for art seems to hit me at the most random times. That said I’m inspired by those around me, friends, family and other artists I see. I’m inspired by the idea of a finished product.m, and the idea of creating from a blank canvas or blank screen and it eventually becoming something to share.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been in the corporate world ever since graduating college (Illinois State University) in 2010. I’ve done sales, Ive worked in college athletic departments and I’m currently working in the insurance industry as a field consultant to agents. My ‘off hours’’ are where art really consumes my life. I’ve always had the creative bone in my body, and always would draw and design for fun.. I’m very creatively curious, always wanting to learn different mediums or styles (animation, photography, etc). it wasn’t until recently that I realized I have something that can be shared with others. I have something people might be interested in seeing and enjoying.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Drink: 8th Wonder Brewery Muldoons Anvil Eat: Papasitos El Patio Rodeo Goat Killers BBQ Paulies To do: Astros or Rockets game NASA or Galveston day trip Go by the Astrodome (of course). Added bonus: Spend time around Montrose. Coffee at Agora or Empire then shop as ‘Space’ and check out the thrift and vintage stores up and down the street.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t pinpoint just one person. I’ve been supported my whole life to do things with my art, and keep learning and creating. Ive been very fortunate to always be surrounded by people who believed in my abilities.
