Meet Braxton (Slick Cinema) Parchment | Videographer, Cinematographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Braxton (Slick Cinema) Parchment and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Braxton (Slick Cinema), what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success as a videographer has been consistency paired with creativity, vision and genuine storytelling. From the beginning, I focused on being a dedicated, self-taught student of my craft which continues to help me improve with every project. My strong attention to detail and charismatic personality has helped me build strong relationships with my clients. But more than anything, I’ve always aimed to bring stories to life, stories that feel real—whether it’s a brand, a person, or an event. People connect with emotion, not just visuals. I believe that’s what has helped my work stand out and grow over time

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of the progression in my work over the past 3 years. I started with a single Canon camera that was collecting dust in my room and had very little knowledge on how to use it. As I began my self-taught journey with YouTube videos and connecting with other photographers, my thirst for knowledge grew and I became determined to transform my newly developed skill into a career.
Was it easy? Absolutely not. It took years of sacrificing time and sleep, investing money into equipment, finding and building my clientele while exploring different niches, which all directly helped shape my brand. I had to stay focused and fully committed to the journey once I decided it was the path I wanted to be on.
My perspective quickly shifted from wanting to just be a “camera guy” to being the top-tier, most sought after videographer in my city and eventually the world! It’s not only a want, but a belief. My ability to dream up a concept and bring it to life is the most exciting and motivating thing about what I do.
Where I am now professionally is due to patience and understanding that there is a step-by-step process to getting where I want to be. Nothing is built overnight and understanding where I am in my journey helps me stay focused and not be distracted by the desires of my career.
The most important lesson I have learned along the way is to establish what it is you want to create, and create it. Take time to assess your progress along the way and reflect on what you’ve done, what worked, what didn’t work, what you enjoy the most about what you’re doing and have a clear plan on how to move forward. As a creative, It’s easy to get excited and pulled into different directions and try so many different things, but the key to a successful videography career and successful brand is consistency and specialty. Ask yourself, “what am I known for and why am I the most suitable person to do it”? With money, without money, with opportunity, without opportunity. Create it. Do it as if you were hired to do it. Do it as much as you can and show the world so you can establish yourself as the expert of your craft.
What I want the world to know about my brand is how meticulous I am at what I do. It’s more than just holding a camera and clicking a button. It’s the care for the client and being able to align my creativity with their vision. It’s the hours of editing and the joy in finding the perfect music selection that brings their story to life. It’s my creative direction and thoughtful suggestions that help bring out the best of the client’s project. It’s an entirely different level, one that will be one of the most notable videography brands in the world someday. It’s more than just a brand, it’s a legacy and the work I’ve created will one day inspire many others to create more of what their minds see. Inspiring others to dream and build their own lane, that’s the vision

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite places to go are Reset lounge, Pop Stroke and my fav of all time Jinya to get tasty ramen. Lost and found is amazing. Joey Uptown if you want good food and a boujee vibe. Sophies if you like wine. 4 seasons hotel if you want wine as well

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I keep God at the forefront of everything I do. I know that my success isn’t solely because of my own efforts and I don’t move unless his hand is on it. I know that nothing is possible without him and that is what grounds me and keeps me in alignment with the vision.
