We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanne & Oliver Elle & Primes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breanne & Oliver, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
For most people fear stops them from stopping them from taking a risk. Fear has never stopped us from taking a risk, we know with great risk yields great reward. For one to be able to get through their fears they must address their faith. Our faith in the Creator has taught us to not fear the risk of stepping out into what we love to do. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of a sound mind. When I decided to start the bakery I knew my temp job assignment was coming to an end and knew getting another job was out of the question for me. O fully supported me and we opened the bakery. The risk was high having no job to depend on for money just our own hard work and hustle. Had I not stepped out on my faith and taken the risk to be self-employed I would not even be writing this interview today!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an artistic mind in every way shape and form, right-brained person. Oliver is a left-brained person; together we balance each other out in perfect harmony. Starting off I did not have a business plan like most businesses; I started it to replace my job at the time. I knew my skill level in baking and used my creativity to market my products to the public. I would say my unique ability to see something in my head and bring it to life sets me apart from my competition, also my desserts taste like heaven! I love to create and as of today my new training is tackling cake decorating. Cakes are a staple to any party or gathering. Having a professionally made cake can make or break your business. I would love to grow into creating wedding cakes in the near future. When you shop you experience the love in every bite! We use simple ingredients making our own unique recipes to give that distinctive flavor you can’t get outside of YBS.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Discovery Green, the best place in Houston. It is a park surrounded by restaurants, bars, bike riders, and even has a small pond! There is honestly so much to do and see in Houston and 99% involves food and drinks. I enjoy seafood so we are always at the best seafood places. My girls all love to be pampered and well groomed, so we book pedicures, waxes, facials and nail appointments for our self care and much needed boss women free time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We first give credit to God as without his will we would have no bakery, no life to live. I personally say the biggest support comes from my best friend, LeAngela and my life partner, Oliver. Oliver is my rock, foundation and business partner; we work in all our businesses together. Our vision is so similar I could not imagine my life without him in it, and he feels the same. LeAngela has been there since day one of my entrepreneurial journey and she has been my biggest supporter mentally. She is also a business owner herself and knows the everyday struggles of this journey. She informs me of business grants, ways to help my social media grow, and so much more information that she finds out for her business. Without her this would be a lot tougher.
