We had the good fortune of connecting with Brent Magana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brent, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Freedom. Not punching a clock anymore and just being another number. The American dream. Taking control of my destiny and life. Inspiring and benefitting those around me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business Space City Lights always puts the client first. This has always been the case abd customer service is number one priority. It wasn’t easy. Especially at the beginning when I was figuring things out. Learning the business as I went. I have learned that my imagined idea of success when I started my company is not reality now. I thought of how it needed to look or be is not of importance now. More recently I have realized my business gives me freedom to take care of myself and my family which is my definition of success. I’m grateful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to Common Bond for Breakfast, Pappa Brothers for Lunch, and Da Marco for dinner. Coffee at Catalina. Visit the natural science museum. Hang out and walk around Bayou Buffalo Park and check out the bats and the tomb. We can bike ride around the east side of downtown and down the Harrisburg trail. This is a cool neighborhood and warehouse district. Also go to NASA in clear lake and explore space history.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I recognize my mother for always pushing herself harder. She inspired me to never give up no matter what. To always hang in there and never quit.
