We had the good fortune of connecting with Bria Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create some thing that would be beautiful and beneficial. Living in Houston can be overwhelming when it comes to different ideas and what consumers will actually pay attention to. I see a lot of people have handheld electric fans and they either don’t give off enough air or they die very quickly and that’s how I came up with the idea of creating something that will do just that, but is aesthetically pleasing to any, and everyone. I want someone to ask “where did you get that?!”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am mostly proud of myself for taking a leap of faith. There are so many people in the world that have great ideas but are hesitant due to worrying too much about what other people think. I am in the position I’m in today by trusting myself and my skills. It is not easy to take a chance on yourself especially if you’re one who overthinks and tend to be a people pleaser. This has taught me that it doesn’t matter who may seem like they are against you because there will be 100 more people who are rooting for you and they are complete strangers. I want people to know that my brand is one of a kind when it comes to the craft of deciding how they will look because it is an extension of you!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was visiting for a week it would be broken up into fun and relaxing activities. We may start the week off by celebrating their arrival with great food and sitting outside because it’s usually very pretty when decorated. Of course a fan would be provided because as we know the heat humidity mixture can be a bit much. A game night may follow the next day, and perhaps a night cap at a bar/lounge. The following days will consist of spa treatments: massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, and a hair salon afterwards. More great food to follow up with, as well as art shows, museums, and random events Houston is known for.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to show love and shout-out my city and the people that make up the community. Houston, Tx is a city full of beauty and promise that makes you want to put yourself out there no matter what your idea is. Being from this city, visiting, or deciding to move here is the only way one will truly understand how beneficial having something like a handheld fan is.
