We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridget Dew and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bridget, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to have an established business by retirement. I watch my dad stay very active because he started a business that he cared about. I wanted that for myself. I also believe that as a mother you need something just for you. I have my business and allow my children to recipricate cheering me on.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
By day i’m a school librarian. I am a curious person by nature. I and a librarian friend took lots of hands on classes. I took a cookie class, makeup class and a balloon class all by January of 2020. Then the pandemic hit. I was at home and was bored. I decided to practice balloon garlands since it was the last class I took. Mother’s Day came up and I decided to make some arrangements to sale. The rest is history!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
1. Aga’s- The best Indian Food Ever! 2. The Post- Great Place to take pictures
3. Marie African Food- Great service and the most consistent African food i’ve found
4. Kindred Stories- Great Bookstore in 3rd Ward
5. Outlet Shopping Near Galveston
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is no way in heck you can grow without the support of others in the industry. I knew nothing about Social Media. Dameka @ mingle.with.meka. She not only (insert here) encouraged me, but took me on location and taught me how to take pictures and post. She checks in and makes sure i’m trying new things. She comments on my posts and gives me feedback to do better. She was and is my first teacher. There wouldn’t be a following without her.
