We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Kluss-Puente and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
honestly, starting my own business wasn’t originally part of the plan—it was more like, ‘guess i’m doing this now.’ a situation at my previous salon for pushed for me to reevaluate what I truly wanted for myself and career. at the time, it felt unfair, but it turned out to be the catalyst for something beautiful. it pushed me to create a space that truly reflects who i am as a stylist and what i want to bring to my clients. but also the wake-up call i needed. i realized i never wanted to work for anyone else again. i’ve been doing hair for 16 years, and that moment made me step back and really think: what kind of stylist do i want to be? what kind of space do i want to create? it’s true—we get pushed out of our comfort zones so we can grow into something bigger than we imagined, and i’m forever grateful for that push from the universe. looking back, that situation might’ve been the best thing to happen to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
my work is all about creating personalized, intentional, lived-in cuts and colors. i’m a texture queen who loves razor cuts, long layers, short hair, mullets, and shags. i also specialize in curly and wavy hair, helping clients embrace their natural texture in ways that feel effortless and stylish.

what sets me apart is my ability to truly connect with my clients and craft styles that reflect who they are and what makes them feel their best. my salon is also eco-conscious, using low-tox, sustainable practices to ensure that every service aligns with my commitment to the environment and my clients’ well-being. it’s not just about the end result—it’s about the journey, the trust, and the care that goes into creating something special together.

getting to where i am today wasn’t easy. it took years of learning to trust my instincts, refining my skills, and figuring out how to align my work with my values. every challenge taught me something, and i’ve grown so much from those experiences.

if there’s one thing i want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that my salon is more than just a place to get your hair done—it’s a space where creativity, community, and connection come together. i’m proud to offer an experience that’s inclusive, empowering, and eco-conscious, designed to make every client feel seen and celebrated.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
i used to work in river oaks, and i’ve always loved the montrose area—there’s so much good food and a vibrant vibe that’s hard to beat. one of my favorite spots is empire café; their coffee is amazing, and the food is just as good. closer to where i work now in katy, there’s this great spot called crafted—it has a bar-like atmosphere with stellar food that my family and i love. we’d definitely need to catch a movie at star cinema off fry road; their wings are shockingly good—ask for them crunchy! i’m a foodie at heart, but i’m also a homebody, so as long as there’s time to kick back and relax between all the exploring, i’m happy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
i want to dedicate my shoutout to my friend and peer, Candy Collier. we worked together over a decade ago, and while we only talk every once in a blue moon, her support has always been constant and unwavering. candy has this incredible way of uplifting and encouraging people, and she’s always been there to help, even from afar. it’s rare to find someone whose kindness and belief in you never waver, no matter how much time passes. i really appreciate her for that and want her to know how much of an impact she’s had on my journey.
