Meet Brittany Robertson | Business Owner & Activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Robertson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It was based on the needs I identified thought my years of Advocating for incarcerated housed in Indefinite Solitary Confinement. How to help them navigate today’s world while using their learned experience for continued activism.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Texas Prison Reform, we believe that true change must be built upon the insights of those who have lived the experience. This initiative is designed around the needs, talents, and passions of individuals who have been previously incarcerated, especially those who endured years in long-term solitary confinement. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where they can learn to navigate the complexities of today’s world.
We empower them to use their hard-earned wisdom. Our years of advocating for these individuals while they were incarcerated revealed a crucial truth: their voices are the most powerful in driving prison reform. We help them articulate their experiences and stories, amplifying their impact and aligning with the broader mission of Texas Prison Reform. These individuals deeply desire to play a vital role in the transformation we all seek within our carceral system. They are committed to educating both Texas and the nation about reform, offering a perspective only they can provide.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to eat at Pinkertons BBQ for Lunch, tour some of the Houston Museum district. Check out the Houston murals (so many beautiful ones) on the way to catch some live music at the Revention Music center. I would also love to show them the historical areas of Houston. Go enjoy 2 Bros Cafe on the way to do some shopping at the Houston Galleria Mall. I love the people of Houston, those supporting the mission of positive change. For instance The prison shows studio is in Houston. so I have always wanted to stop by and chat with Dani & David & their amazing crew! Houston is vastly unique in what it offers! so anything involving the arts would be a full day excursion.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The incarcerated Texas Prison Reform Team. The Prison Show has been a strong supporter. Truly so many other nonprofits & organizations working to make this world a little bit better by using their love to drive their mission. The family members of those incarcerated who share their desire for change through speaking out at our side.
