We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My initial thought process behind starting my business was to assist those who aren’t “known” to leave a legacy. It was founded sometime in the summer of 2017, to help spotlight those unheard. Featuring artists + creatives from Detroit and more. Our main goal will always be to put on for those who need it. You don’t have to be famous to leave a legacy, We serve as a start up company for all local brands and businesses. But I wanted to specialize in artist development

What should our readers know about your business?
WzupDet is completely different from most start up companies simply because we allow the creatives to lead their vision. We don’t take control, we guide one another. We come together when projects need to be completed. We find joy in getting the job done, going beyond the expectations of what’s already required. Most times creatives have a vision but don’t have the tools for completion so great ideas simply only turn out to be that. Just an idea, we turn ideas into action & movements. Once you tell us what you want to do, we assist in helping that idea come into fruition. WzupDet has gotten this far today with the support of FWDDS our ever growing community of likeminded creatives who network, collaborate and communicate to give ART the platform it deserves. I’m most proud of that no voice goes unheard with our company. We appreciate everyone ; the event spaces, the promoters, the DJ’s, artists, the fans/audience. The creators and the customers. They all matter. We truly try to display how. It wasn’t easy at first finding “like minds” because humans are naturally selfish, but everyone isn’t naturally a team player. I come from a team oriented background from playing Sports and things of that nature. I ran into a lot of selfish players people who only seen their vision. Success isn’t built on selfishness. It was truly difficult in the beginning; the first 2 years. But the past year has been a beautiful RESET and REFRESH. WzupDet finally has the team it deserves, everybody plays a part. Without me ; (the owner) asking. I’m very grateful to have Kosher Lee, Crimson Alchemist, Monetary Plug, and the SoundProof Detroit family who assist in growing the company. I personally decided to reach out those who make themselves available, the ones who make it easy. The ones I mentioned are the ones who did exactly what I was asking without having to ask. My greatest lesson I’ve learned that people who want to help will help. The people who want to be there will be there. Don’t worry about who isn’t. FOCUS on who does. That’s all that matters. Always do things with love and not for love. I want the world to know I’m a testament of God/The Universe being good. Good people exist. Good things exist. You just have to continue to live and don’t give up. Trust your experiences. It’s cliche but trust the process, those hurdles in life are ONLY building strength.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I wanted to show my BFF the best time ever, I’m taking her to the park downtown at Campus Martius, we’re getting on the slides/swings, we’re most definitely skating! Getting some bumps and bruises, we go grab some slurpees then were going to have a drink at a bar — Theresa’s, and talk about the woes of Adulting (I still won’t grow up , I’m a grown ass kid) I prefer having legit fun over partying. Anything outdoors would be the move, especially the bar bike rides. I’ve yet to experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout ALL of my friends.who.do.dope.shit aka FWDDS. FWDDS are about FRIENDS who do dope shit, whatever it is that they do. FWDDS are a collective of influential creatives with an objective to network, collaborate and give art platform it deserves. It’s more than just music/art. It’s about connection & security, a a safe space. This is a movement aimed to inspire generations to come. To bring peace, love and unity for all communities.

When you support one of us. You get the support of all of US. We aim to provide peace, love and unity for ALL creatives throughout our platform. We simply aspire to be the bridge for the culture.
