We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Waddell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My initial thought process behind starting Watch Her Prep, was basically how can I help people reach their health and wellness goals. I felt as if I had unlocked a secret of life in a sense, when I reached my goals. I had increased energy, much more focused, innate happiness, and just pure joy. Being healthy is much more than looking good in clothes or a swimsuit, to me, it is feeling your best, on the inside. I wanted to share this feeling and process with other women. Much like myself, I knew there were so many women who were unhappy due to their weight, and had no clue where to start. I wanted to simplify it for them, and essentially show them that they are strongAF, and can do anything. It starts with habit change and the pure willingness to start.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Watch Her Prep is a virtual Health Coaching business, solely for women. I work with women to help them lose weight by setting goals, creating plans, and holding them accountable. A huge focus that I work closely with my clients on is their diet. Diet is a key contributor to disparities in many chronic diseases and conditions. If you can change and get control over your diet, you can literally change your life trajectory. I am most proud of how I am able to meet women where they are at, and make it work for them. I do not sell meal plans, but I empower women and give them their own tools to plan their meals, for themselves. I’ve learned that the only way to see true, sustainable, change is to make the change a lifestyle change.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has so many amazing parks! One of my favorite parks in Houston is Buffalo Bayou Park. Every time a friend comes to visit, the first thing I make sure that we do, is take a morning walk or run at the park. Next, we stop by one of my favorite local coffee shops, for a latte. Then, of course, brunch is always on the itinerary! Houston has many amazing restaurants, and brunch spots, so options are literally limitless. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out Reggie C Fitness! This community essentially changed my life. It was here where I learned how powerful community is, especially community with other women. It is why my health coaching business is targeted towards women. Women are powerful and much stronger than we give ourselves credit for. It was here where I truly tapped into my own strength for the first time- mentally and physically. So many other women have been positively impacted through this gym community, and have since gone out and impacted others. I believe that’s it. That is true service. Service is a continuum and a domino effect.
