We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruno Baltazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bruno, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
In this case with the podcast, it is my goal to bring a voice to those around soccer within the Houston Dynamic Dynamo, but eventually with the recorded conversations with those involved in soccer all around Houston, Texas and the USA. We can bring awareness and talk about what occurs in all levels of the game, from all school, to playing career professionally or those who play semi-pro or just those who play with friends on their weekend league, and what happens afterwards, from. a coach, player, fan, or any other perspective.
There’s a lot that needs to be changed and evolved within soccer in the USA, the game is always changing and transforming itself, elite coaches are changing their methods and strategy, and the way youth is challenged and coached is also changing, so it’s important to parents with kids, and kids itself to identify and be aware of changes and who is good and who isn’t out there to better assist their kids, that’s eventual the end goal of this podcast, and website.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This isn’t so much a business, but more a outlet to talk about soccer within the community, to highlight others who are involved with the sport, not just the Dynamo and to bring a different voice the way we look at soccer by analyzing it from a coach perspective, which is different than what others are doing it. Im not a journalist, neither a report, nor want to be on, but also highlights and gives me a outlet to connect and see the game in a fun way, rather than a job one.

Eventually we may have some costume merchandise related to the podcast if there’s interest but that’s down the road.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the fun things about the Dynamo is that most people overlook is how cheap it is to go to a game. For about $17 you can get a ticket to the game, the concession stands inside probably have the best stadium food within the area, and honestly even as a date if you bring someone is something fun where you can also talk, if you go to the movies, you have to be quite so there isn’t much opportunity to get to know someone, in a soccer game you can talk, you can be loud or quite. You can have excitement by pulling for or against the home team. You can also go to the nearby bars before or after the game and just relax before, it’s close to the theater district, you can also catch a walk or a show before or afterwards and walk around downtown or the museums.

It’s cheap, its fun and it’s family friendly, you can bring your kids and create family memories too, so you can’t beat that and I wish we could see more fans in the stadium as they also renovated it recently.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up in Portugal I needed strong parents who would go along with my dream and passions, so first I think it’s crucial to have supporting parents when you have a dream as a kid, regardless what that dream might be and regardless if it ends happening or not, sports are a outlet for a kid to be busy and not focus or be bored around those who may be bad influences.

I would also say coaching so far in the USA, you have to have a good supporting system, regardless if you are the head or assistant coach, its all about the relationships you have with your fellow coaches within the same organization. No wonder elite coaches always bring the same assistant coaches anywhere they go.
With that said, I would have to say coach Leising and Guzman at Royal High School were very important in the way I saw relationships within the coaching community in this country.
