We had the good fortune of connecting with Caitlyn Goins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caitlyn, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
In school, we’re taught to ace the test, to pass with flying colors. In life, learning is a much different process. When we fail, fall down, make mistakes, we learn, we grow, we stretch past the limits of our comfort zones. In my business and career, I have definitely learned to appreciate the process of learning and growing more so: it’s not about perfection, it’s about making progress. Sometimes that requires a pivot, sometimes it requires humility (like raising your hand and shouting the wrong answer, lol), and sometimes that requires embracing the challenges and the growth that sprouts during those times, I believe this is where the greatest liberation is found. No one but God knows everything, (as we are all learning) and that is for good reason.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started in mortgage lending in 2016, as an assistant. I began studying for my test to become licensed shortly after. I took the test and failed it by three points, which was very disappointing at the time. BUT, one year later, after studying and learning the industry, I took it again and receiving a passing score of a 92. Since then, I have been working on learning the industry, making progress in my education of the real estate industry, and learning from the great professionals around me. It has not been easy at times, especially with all of the market changes and shifts, however, I have enjoyed every moment, even the challenges. The best way to enjoy the process, is to focus on enjoying the road of learning and growth, and and to remain humble cause that’s the best way to continue to learn, which is something that is never-ending in life. It makes the process of learning a lot more enjoyable by being humble enough to admit that that there are areas in life in which we can always grow in. I have really enjoyed working with all of the clients that I’ve helped so far, I’ve found deep appreciation in assisting them in the road to closing on their homes, and in starting those new chapters. The best part of my job is the gratitude I receive after helping a family on their home. It’s priceless.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to set up a week itinerary for a non-local, I would love to show them the beauty and the vibrance of Houston nightlife (more specifically downtown). I would love to show them around my favorite spots in the greater Houston area, some more local to me in South Houston, in varying locations all the way from the heart of the city to the beach at Galveston.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout out to God, first and foremost, as all these all great experience in life come from our creator. I’d also like to give a shout out to all my family and friends, and all of my clients (past, present, and future), everyone who has made a appearance in my journey at any point who has helped shaped me into the person I am today. Much love to them all.
