We had the good fortune of connecting with Calico Tha Beast and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Calico, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always had a love for music, even as a child. I used to sit around the TV all day and re-enact Michael Jackson videos lol. So the passion has always been there. Hip-Hop was definitely my 1st true love. Growing up on 2Pac, Bone Thugs, Snoop Dogg, No Limit, etc, is what created that passion. Once I realized I could rhyme, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It really depends on what your idea is of fun. There’s plenty to do in Houston ranging from Arcades to Water parks to Clubs. It’s funny being a rapper because I’m not really a club guy lol. I’m more of a let’s go to somewhere like a Dave & Busters, play some games and toss some drinks back.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My children definitely are the ones who keep me determined and motivated to go further and further in life regardless of what it is I am pursuing. Just knowing that they are depending on me, failure is not an option and never will be.
