We had the good fortune of connecting with Camillya Masunda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camillya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting a business is a beautiful scary, yet exciting journey. It is not always easy and that’s why creating a business or brand that is aligned with your purpose is so important the journey or entrepreneurship is a journey of self-discovery and growth it recreates the way you think about things from consumer to creator and seller. It’s no particular right time to join or start your journey because it’s very much like riding a bike you simple have to get on and you may fall a few times but if you get back up and keep at it business gets really good.
My thought process for starting our company was the love of wine and love culture and unity as well as creating something that was amazing yet purposeful and had a mission that represented something worth celebrating around the world.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Ebony Wine & Spirits apart is our wine experience and we call it that because that’s what it is. Our wine is truly amazing it’s culture in a bottle and a celebration in a glass.
The why behind EBONY is what makes us truly unique to simply put it. It’s culture its history and heritage, past present and future we celebrate it. The celebration of history, heritage and culture bringing us together through Ebony Wine throughout the world.
We launched Ebony Wine & Spirits during the pandemic, and we’ve gotten this far because we are a new day in wine and the people’s choice. We say a new day in wine because we make wine approachable and fun, for us it’s no rules just wine. Just pour and enjoy and have a good time doing it.
The wine and spirits industry hasn’t been easy, it’s defiantly some obstacles and learning experiences. We have overcome many of them by being teachable but sticking to our mission and purpose and staying true to our brand.
I’ve learned so many lessons thus far my biggest lesson has been patients and giving gratitude for where we are while working towards our consistent goals as a new company.
I want the world to know that it’s a new day in wine. We are Ebony Wine & Spirits cheers to the celebration of unity and culture around the globe with every sip of Ebony Wine & Spirts you can sip with us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Charlotte you have to visit Members Only for sexy and fun drinks. Head over to Cuzzo’s Cuisine the food is absolutely amazing with a southern flare and are a staple in the Charlotte area. We would head over to the Ebony Experience Culture Gallery that features black art music culture exhibitions that are a must see. Don’t forget to head over to 1501 for live music drink and outside patio vibes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this Shoutout to my family, my daughter La’Nayah, mother Denise, sister Yoland, and the Ebony Wine & Spirits Team Martie, Shaq, Shapana you all are so amazing. Our followers and supporters from all over the world who understand our mission and love Ebony Wine & Spirits because it’s no us without you.
