We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Hawkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candace, how do you think about risk?
Honestly without risk I wouldn’t be where I am today in all areas of life. I think risk is needed as it’s a form of thinking outside the box and getting out of your comfort zone. Risk opens door that might not have opened by staying in the familiar.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I can of fell into where I am with fitness. As a collegiate athlete, I was always into fitness. As I started posting my workouts online as a person vlog of my journey, friends and strangers came to me for help. That prompted me to become certified as a trainer. With me working full time in law enforcement I haven’t gave personal training 100% of my time but with what I have done I greatly am blessed God has gave me the ability to help and inspire others with my videos and personal training.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well the Galeria Mall is always the tourist hot spot to see a huge mall. Going out, I always find midtown a great area to bar hop and catch different vibes in one night. I’m a nature person so a trip to Herman Park is a must. There is another strip of food bars we would go for brunch. The food truck park on Westheimer is also a cool place to visit. Me being a big kid at heart I would also suggest the zoo and the color factory. Cant go wrong with Sunday Funday activities in Houston.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My first shoutout goes to my grandmother for always being a supportive force in my life and telling me to go for what I want. I also want to shoutout this mother and daughter I met in college while working at Target who through a random conversation led me to finding the meaning to my fitness brand.
