We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie Teague and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carrie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Entrepreneurship has always been something that has lived in my soul. Most of my adult life I worked for an entrepreneur and visions and dreams of my own company were always present in mind. It wasn’t until I was a mother of 2, working tireless hours, trying to be PTA Mom of the Year, supporting my husband and our relationship that I told myself “turn your life into your dreams.” At the same time these thoughts were entering my mind the same dreams were entering my best friend’s. Emily Besser and myself decided it was time to team up and do something that were were truly passionate for and what better way that to start this new adventure together. We started with one thing set in stone; we are entrepreneurs with an unmatched work ethic, but we are also mommies and wives and all those roles would be our guiding light to the business. Knowing we wanted to use our creative brains and both having a passion for antiquing we started Plumbing Provisions. The process starts with the hunt, which is one of my favorite parts! Round Top, TX has been the mecca for all things Plumbing Provisions. We started with just shopping for pieces during the fall, winter and spring shows but have recently been able to call Henkle Square in Round Top home for the past few shows in our pop up show house. Once the piece is shopped we reinvent the piece into one of a kind beautiful vanities that are never duplicated. Each Plumbing Provisions customers has a custom piece with their personal design in mind. We work closely with our customers to ensure it is a timeless piece for their home.
What should our readers know about your business?
Plumbing Provisions is a story of reinvention of 2 friends lives. It came about at a time when we were approaching 40. Emily a working mother of 3, a wive, a daughter of aging parents and a knowing that her life needed to change. Carrie also a working mother of 2, a wife and a career that was ending due to a sell out we knew we needed more flexibility, more balance, more joy, less stress. Emily had spent the past few years developing a passion for designing rooms using older, antique pieces to set the space apart. Carrie has a passion for antiquing and designing spaces with unlikely pieces. So when we looked around for what the next venture could be, Plumbing Provisions started to breathe life – custom plumbing pieces.
Reinventing uses for old pieces of furniture has allowed us to reinvent our careers. It brings us joy to work with a customer on either the specific needs of their space or an idea they have to transform an older piece of furniture. An old dresser handed down from your mother-in-law becomes a one-of-a-kind master lavatory. An antique cabinet that once hung on someone’s wall in the South of France becomes a powder bath vanity. It’s creative, it’s custom and it’s affordable because we shop for your specific need and work with your budget. And if we can’t for some reason, we will be upfront with you about it.
Honesty, customer service and quality are our core values.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Is there anything better than a great patio, beautiful weather, fun friends and amazing drinks? In my perfect world life is lived on a patio! Some of my favorite patios include Present Company. Its fun vibe and creative drinks provide for the perfect afternoon. Not to mention the whole place is a huge photo opt! If adding live music is more your style check out The Rustic. It’s a huge restaurant/bar that includes a yard area with yard games, stage with live music and some of the most delish eats around! Lastly my patio list rounds out with a super sweet little place called Tiny Boxwoods. lush greenery, small eats and the best chocolate chip cookies to touch your lips is just a few of the amazing things about this restaurant.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my friend and business partner, Emily Besser. Her strength, courage and kindness are a constant reminder to myself and the World how special people really are.
