We had the good fortune of connecting with Carter McIntosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carter, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done for my children, as a single mom, is instill in them the importance of not being afraid to ask for help and and having a strong support system made up of: God, family, and trusted friends. All of these components make for a strong foundation and encourage confidence and hope!
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is a Wedding and Retreat Venue called “The Wyldes at Tranquility Ranch”. It is a co-ownership between my Father and I centered around his and my Mom’s 1200 acre ranch in South Texas. I was on my way to Nursing School when my Mom passed unexpectedly and that shifted my path with more of a focus towards my Dad and his vision/desires for the family property. I’m so proud to be walking alongside my Mom’s legacy of hosting people and my Dad’s dream of creating a special place where people can come to heal and build new relationships. I got to where I am today solely by the grace of God and Him answering my prayers. I love hosting, I love designing and decorating, and I love connecting with others- this new venture in weddings and retreats makes the most sense and God has far exceeded my expectations! It has not been easy as I was a stay-at-home Mom for many years and then became a single mother, but God opened my eyes to a new way of looking at my valleys and I’ve been walking in peace and freedom since and He just keeps opening the right doors for us! If the world could learn anything about this business and our story, I would hope it would be this: that healing can come to you no matter how far you have gone and that new beginnings are always possible when you surrender your life to the One who made it and trust that God has your best interest in mind- even if you can’t see it yet!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hands down, I would take them to favorite spots- Hebrews Coffee Company for some Cruffins and Coffee flights, Everybellies in the next town over for a big hug from Nichole and a giant, gourmet baked potatoe, Caroline’s for the best Gluten Free desserts and Tamales and The Whistle Stop Tea Room for a pampering afternoon getaway of Paris themed tea and desserts!
I’d then say we’d end the week around the firepit at the ranch for our monthly Campfire night!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give credit first to God for radically changing my life story! I credit my family for always being there when life got really hard in my 20’s and I credit my church and worship family for praying protection and joy over me. I also credit the book “Captivating” by Stasi and John Eldredge as it shifted my perspective on my authority as a woman who strives to love God and people well.
