We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassandria Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassandria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The main reason for starting my own business was because I became ill and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren’s Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and Connective Tissue Disorder to name a few. I did extensive research on what I was suffering from and it made sense to change from using products which contained chemicals to natural. So I set out to make my own natural products by doing the research needed to understand the benefits. Desired Promise™ came into existence from a ‘Desired’ placed in my heart to create natural products, which will naturally enhance the health of our hair and body.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It actually took me a long time to bring this business dream to a reality. I wrote down everything I envisioned this business to be and then I took a course in Austin Texas to get more knowledge in making the products I offer and have been offering these products for years now. Doing research on what type of business I wanted it to be and figuring out the business side of creating a business was interesting because a lot of people don’t like to provide the help with trying to start a business. I did majority of my research online and through trial and error I finally got it right. I ended up having to change my business name three times before I was able to stick with the final name Desired Promise™ and I made sure to Trademark the name as well. I learned that lesson the hard way. No matter what stumbling blocks that came my way I didn’t quit, I kept pushing through because I knew that was placed in my heart to do and I wasn’t going to give up on that. We have been in business now for five years and I am truly thankful to the Most High for that. I may not be rich by man’s standards, however I get joy out of helping others with the products I offer from Desired Promise™.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a lover of the Arts, so I would truly take them to the Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Natural Science, go to the Buffalo Bayou, Hermann Park, visit the Japanese Garden, the McGovern Centennial Garden, and The Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, To round it off the Ensemble Theatre where they are preserving the artistic expressions of people of color. For food I would take them to Katz’s Deli & Bar, Season 52, Vibrant, Cheddar’s, and Chuys.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to say All Praises to the Most High for giving me my husband and children who has in turn giving me all the love, support, and encouragement throughout the years. Standing by my side through the difficult times of my health issues and being the push I needed to keep going and not letting the pain stop me from my Destiny.
