We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassia Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I would never in a million years think I would ever be owning my own business. This was something I just jumped into not knowing where to start, I was working at a waxing franchise for about 9 months until I couldn’t take management any longer, I felt like I was walking on eggshells, my manager was very micromanaging, and she made everything seem like it was a huge issue, she would never admit she was wrong and as an employee they expected us to show fake positivity. I was thinking i have to get out of this place ASAP, so I started looking into suite rentals and all the supplies I needed. Looking for change I found a place in Creekside near The Woodlands called The Reserve Salon and Spa and took my chance there. I put down my deposit and signed a contract, that’s when it began. I had a little bit of money saved up and with the encouragement of my family, I used my savings to get everything I needed and set up my own suite. It sounds like I’m super crazy to just quit and start it on my own but honestly it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
What should our readers know about your business?
beautyxcassia uses top quality hypoallergenic and vegan wax from the brand Mermaid wax, and natural cleaning products to ensuring that clients won’t have an allergic reaction. beautyxcassia takes pride in using proper sanitation procedures to ensure cleanliness throughout each and every service, cleaning the wax pot twice a month, I never double dip waxing sticks and the wax pot stir sticks are changed after each client, also wiping down the wax bed with a disinfecting wipe. With how did i get to where I am today with my business, I kept making new content and posting consistently and staying at the suite all day whether I had someone or not I waited for the walk-ins to come. some days were good and somedays I didn’t have anyone. However, I stayed strong and when I’d least expect it, the clients came. It was rough a few weeks from my opening date but gradually it got better, and it still is. I’ve learned that no matter what people tell you, always follow your gut. I’ve also learned that every sacrifice for your business is worth so much, every decision you make for your business is going to be rewarding in the end.
My brand is not just about coming in for a wax, it’s the experience. It may be your first time coming in for a wax and you’re super nervous about it, I want to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I want you to feel refreshed and confident when they leave, and during the service I will walk you through the whole process. I want you to love the experience and the results, aftercare is super important to get the best results you want!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to whiskey cake, they have amazing food and drinks. then I’d take them to go hang out in park in creekside they have such a nice chill spot with a fake grass lawn to hang out with chairs. and I would also take them to the movie theater and watch a really good movie.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my parents and my boyfriend Juan Rodriguez who also owns his own flooring business, (IG: juanswoodvinyl) for helping me set this all up and giving me the motivation to start this business up, I couldn’t have done it without them. I also want to shoutout to my AMAZING ladies in The Women, Wine and Wellness marketing group, these ladies have helped me stay positive and set some huge goals ever since I began my journey, having them in my life is such a blessing and they keep me on track and to stay focused on my business. Also, all the ladies at The Reserve Salon and Spa Creekside have given me the upmost support all while also running their own businesses.
