We had the good fortune of connecting with Chad Stevenson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chad, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“You can make your life as beautiful as you want it to be.”
I’ve embraced this more now than ever because I would often make things important that really never added value to my life. When I look back on those years I see a lot of failed efforts to live a joyful, rich, and vibrant life. Understanding that God gives life and life more abundantly, I found out I was guilty of stopping that. Now everything I do, even as an artist and leader, is connected to making my life beautiful and filling my life with great things and amazing people. Even the challenges I’ve faced in life aren’t ashes only, but I exchange them with the Father to receive beauty so I can shine bright as a living testimony.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Pastor, Gospel and Inspirational Artist, and Music Development Coach. That keeps me busy. I write, and arrange my music and in most cases play and produce them. I love recording music that people can play whenever, but my love is really in live events. The freedom to be as creative all at one time in a room with so much energy is thrilling. Seeing God work in those environments is just great. I aim to be as sincere as I can be original. I learned years ago not to bend for acceptance. The truth of my artistry is what will always set me apart from the next. I’m not an industry puppet or just another singer, when you hear me, you’re really being invited into another world. That’s different. All of this is really fulfilling and honestly a blessing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Houston, food is our thing, so we would definitely eat at some of my favorite places. Pappadeaux’s, Franks, Bellisimo, Frenchy’s, and a few more places. We would have to pick up Bourbon Bread Pudding from Red Desserts, they would probably want a taste of Blue Bell and Shipley’s. We’d hit downtown for sure and check out any events, games, concerts, shop at BLCK Market and check out the art exhibits.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents, Pastor Charles L. Stevenson, and Dr. Carolyn Cecile Hines Stevenson made so many things possible for me. My siblings Charles, Alicia, Kiana, and so many wonderful friends have worked so hard to help me become the artist and leader I am today. Kim Burrell, V Michael McKay, Shawn Allen, Cleo Sample, Dave Donaldson, Pastor DZ Coffield, Bishop Leroy Woodard, and a host of amazing leaders and producers all over the country.
