We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles & Christine Atkinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charles & Christine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting our own business was born out of a life-altering experience in 2016. My husband Charles and I, were thriving in corporate America, with established careers and a solid six-figure income. We were young, ambitious, and thought we were secure. Then, unexpectedly, we were both laid off in the same year, leaving us with only about $400 each a week in unemployment income. It was a wake-up call that highlighted just how vulnerable we were despite our hard work and dedication. At that moment, we knew that relying solely on corporate jobs was no longer an option; we needed to build something of our own that would give us control over our future. That realization became the foundation for our journey into entrepreneurship. We committed ourselves to creating a business that not only provides stability for our family but also empowers others to take control of their own financial futures. Having a “Plan B” became essential!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Atkinson Solutions LLC was established to be a resource for business owners, aspiring business owners, and others who are looking to establish an additional stream of income. Our mission is to encourage others not to rely on one single source of income. Our three pillars that we educate others on is; Starting a business, Investing, and Wealth building. As an extension of these pillars, we launched Atkinson Life & Legacy which focuses on financial management and retirement planning and Life & Legacy Travel which allows travel lovers to build a thriving business with unlimited income potential while exploring the world.
Our story and journey is still being written. We are grateful for those we’ve been able to help inspire along the way and so excited to continue positively impacting the lives of many to come.
We want others to live a legacy and leave a legacy. Often times, the focus is only on “leaving a legacy”. We now believe “living a legacy” is equally important. The way you live your life will be remembered…
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love to eat here in Houston! You can’t go wrong with brunch so Max Wine Dive, Grace’s or The Breakfast Club are on the list when friends or family come in town. For a little interactive fun, Top Golf or Axe Throwing is always fun!
Because our friends are bosses and CEO’s, self care is important. A visit to Escape Spa, Cypress is a must!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although we have a long list of individuals who have inspired us along our journey, today, we want to recognize three extraordinary people who were truly God-sent at a pivotal time in our lives. We want to take a moment to recognize and deeply thank Rod and Julie Gist, along with Tresa Todd, for their mentorship and support. Over the years, they challenged us to think beyond the present and focus on building a lasting legacy. Their mentorship not only shifted our mindset but also transformed our understanding of financial literacy, empowering us to create something meaningful for our families and future generations.
