We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsie Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Have you ever thought about why you’re here? I’ve narrowed it down to this… “I’m here to help people go from chaos to freedom so they can live in peace and make a bigger impact in the world.” Our purpose never changes…. No matter the job. The interesting thing is, I’ve been called a healer for a long time. But I chose wellness for a very specific reason. It had to do with my own healing journey. I sometimes refer to it as my story of pain to passion to profit. I’ve earned a lot of different credentials from the healing industry since 2004, but more than that, I used to be the exact person I love helping today. I was sick as a child, but in my 20’s I was reminded every day about my ADD, upset tummy, disordered eating, weight and metabolism issues, food addiction, hair loss, chronic fatigue, allergies, hypothyroid, migraines, perimenopausal symptoms at age 27, and the fact that I was completely burned out. After getting sick in almost every organ system and being told medication and surgery was the way out, I hit the bottom of my sad little existence and started looking for a better way. As a nurse, I thought I knew a lot about the human body. I thought I was “eating and exercising right” but I was just like my frustrated patients who weren’t getting well and were being told that medications and surgery was the way out. After I learned that food is medicine and our bodies are created to heal themselves, I experienced complete healing in my mind and body. I published my book, “Healed His Way,” and went on to study healing at greater depths. Little did I know this was the beginning of what I now call “Chelsie Ward Wellness.” My business was created for those who needed my life experiences to help them live the life they desire. I had been coaching others in their health for many years as I was on my own journey. It was my publisher who gave me the idea to turn this journey into a business when she said to me, “you have so much more than a book here…. people need your expertise so they can experience health in the same way you have.” It was at that moment that I started to think about how many people I could help with my experience. I knew how hard it was for me to do it alone. I realized I could be a perfect guide for others so they didn’t have to sift through the misinformation and fumble around for years, hoping the next thing they tried would get them the results so desperately wanted. I was sitting in my sauna one day, trying to decide if my idea was good enough to pursue when my husband walked in during my daydreaming session. He knew I had something on my mind. Long story short… we set a date for me to walk away from my job as a hospital consultant to pursue my passion.
What should our readers know about your business?
There are many great healers and businesses that do what I do. What makes me unique is that I focus on wholeness. You’ve likely heard the word, but it’s become the foundation of what I do and teach. Wholeness encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. When I was sick, the first things I instinctively worked on were my mind, emotions, and spiritual growth. Little did I know that would be a huge piece of the puzzle for healing the physical body. There’s a deep connection with the body as a whole. You can’t have an imbalance in one area and expect that other areas won’t be impacted. Not everyone is open to this type of work, and those who are will be magnetized to it. The greatest miracles and transformations happen when people are willing to go deep and address the inner parts that are connected to the soul. The pills and potions are a big piece of the puzzle, but it all works together. What I’m most excited about today is that I’ve built a program that offers a total transformation. Those who commit to the process truly emerge as a new creation. Building this program has been a work in progress. It hasn’t been easy to pull the most important pieces I’ve learned over all these years and put it into digestible segments. For this reason, it’s continuously growing. As I grow, the program grows with me, and my clients reap the benefits as well. The foundation and message never changes, but the way it’s delivered will continue to evolve. My biggest lesson in growth and getting past the challenges has been in realizing that my business cannot grow beyond where I am in personal development. That means I must be a product of my business. If I teach wholeness, I must live it. If I expect growth and expansion then I must be willing to go deeper into areas where I am weak and broken to uncover things that are holding me back personally. With each new level of personal growth comes a new level of business growth. I’ve also learned to surround myself with the right people. I don’t allow negative people or relationships in my life. People like to say business decisions aren’t personal. I haven’t always found that to be the case. Business is very personal. We have to remember that we are like those we spend the most time with. If we’re being held back by someone on our team, then it’s likely time to part ways. When we release something that’s no longer serving us, we open the door for something better to come our way. My mission is to help people understand that they don’t have to live a life of mediocrity – whether that be in health, finances, relationships, or any other area. We have the life we choose. Whatever we water will grow. If we water health and a positive mindset, then we get to reap the benefits of that. The same is true if we focus on the negative all the time. We are creatures of habit and our life is a reflection of those daily habits. If we want to change our life, the easiest way to do that is to change our daily habits. Some people like to say, “thoughts become things.” I agree! What we think about on a regular basis will become a part of our beliefs. When we believe in something, our actions will reflect those beliefs. And those repeated actions are what become our habits. So if you want to change a habit, one of the first things that must change is your thoughts. I also want you to know that you don’t have to get sick before you die. It’s a lie. You can live in a healthier state, no matter where you are right now. You simply need the right steps. Those willing to invest will be transformed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When there is free time, skip the city. Go to the woods. You may not believe that’s possible in the area, but don’t leave without checking out some of the local parks and nature trails. One of my favorite things to do is check out new areas on the “All Trails” app and find hidden little gems in the area. You also don’t want to miss my favorite restaurant – Dish Society.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to acknowledge God for the opportunity to successfully serve, my husband for supporting my dreams, and other healers who have allowed me to use their years of wisdom to create success for myself and those I partner with.
