We had the good fortune of connecting with Cher-Ron Thicklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cher-Ron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Eating and winning for our future. Being able to create millionaires, billionaires, zillionaires within our community. Everyone has something that they can bring to the table and we can all eat.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2005, when I moved to Houston, TX from Kansas City, I knew that there was something for me to do. As a single mother, it was extremely hard for me to go to college because of the health of my son, I had to work. So a lot of the things that I know even today have been from hands-on experience. And when the real estate market failed me so many times I gave up on it (oh, but I’m getting back into it soon) I had to figure out how I was going to make it at a regular job and it didn’t. All they saw was the money that I used to make.
It all started with me deciding to create myself a flyer for an event. Because remember I am a single mother of four amazing children so as an artist/singer-songwriter I couldn’t afford to pay someone to do anything at times. And from then on I started helping others (practicing my clientele) and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. This is a business!!
So I started reaching out to friends to see if they needed any help with their business and I began scheduling their social media campaigns, shipping, back office, virtual assistance, etc. And then once I got that down I expanded to the next service, then the next service, and so on. And now I have combined all of my companies under the umbrella of The Black Wall Street Nation a one stop-shop business solutions firm.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Tues – Photo Shoot at the Water Wall and Discovery Green

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to first Thank GOD for creating me to be who I am. He deserves all of the SHOUTOUTS, the SHOUTS, the SCREAMS, the HOLLERS, and the PRAISE, for giving me the breath of life to wake up every day to start a NEW DAY just to chip away at the pieces to get it right.
Dedicating this SHOUTOUT to my best friend, soulmate, business partners, and prayer partners thanks for being a true friend and seeing all my flaws, hurts, failures, my too niceness but yet believing in me and letting me know that I can be everything that God showed me.
Lady Kaye, Drop in a Bucket Productions, THE D.O.P.E. Movement, Valido Foods, Jerri P. Beasley, BlueBoy Products, Bundt Cake-A-Holic, and all of my clients you deserve the credit for allowing me to be me with your brands and products. I love showing you off to the World.
