We had the good fortune of connecting with Chere Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chere, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from Houston, Tx and lived there until I attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Tx earning a degree in criminology. My father loved to take photos! He inspired me from a young age to see the world from a different perspective through a camera lens. My parents were supportive of my dreams and bought me my first camera at ten years old and off I went. The excitement of picking up my prints to see what I had captured was like opening a gift. Growing up we had a second home on the Texas Coast where I spent time photographing bay and beach life along with interesting people. Once married and having a son I began family photography. Through the years this led to photographing family, friends, different athletic events, state horse shows, rodeos, and county fairs that my son and his friends participated in. I have two beautiful granddaughters who are front and center of my life and camera. They inspire me constantly to seek out new ideas and places to photograph. I turned my hobby into the profession of my dreams. I am very passionate about helping my clients capture life’s most precious memories.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a lifestyle photographer and I am creative and artistic and constantly thinking of new ideas and places to go and people to see to photograph. I have also been perfecting my skills as an underwater photographer. Traveling to many tropical destinations has afforded me this opportunity. I am very proud that my family and friends support my endeavors. Starting a business is never easy. You have to establish yourself with your work and earn the trust of your clients. Your work will provide them professional images that will tell their story and last a lifetime. I am a patient, kind, easy-going, laid-back person which is very important in photography field. I pride myself in being compassionate and I want my clients to feel very comfortable while I am taking their pictures.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting I would take her to Aggieland to Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas. We would visit the George Bush Library and tour the campus. She and I would have a great home cooked lunch at Kotts cafe in Anderson,Tx where I live. They have been in business for 35 plus years and their food and pies are to die for. At some point we would head to Houston for a couple of days and tour the museums and attend an Astros baseball game. While in Houston eat at Molinas Mexican Restaurant which is owned and operated by a friends family. A Matagorda, Tx beach trip would be involved as well with a lot of photos taken of our weeks excursions. Time permitting we would probably float the Guadalupe river from the Hideout on the Horse shoe to end an awesome week with a best friend.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my parents, my sister, son, daughter in law, granddaughters, best friends and aunt for endless support in helping me turn hobby into the profession of my dreams. Thank you very much and love you all.
