We had the good fortune of connecting with Chernele Lloyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chernele, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is a fundamental part of many aspects of life, including personal growth and career development. In a broad sense, taking risks often involves stepping out of one’s comfort zone and facing uncertainties, which can lead to both opportunities and challenges. In May 2024 I decided it was time for me to step out on faith and pursue real estate full-time. I resigned from my corporate job and took my leap of faith knowing that between God and my work ethic I would be ok. Was it a risk? Yes. Was it worth it? YES YES YES! I have never been so happy career wise ever. I have worked in multiple industries within multiple roles and I can honestly say real estate is my “purpose/calling”. It’s the best decision I’ve made for myself and my career.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What Sets Chernele (me) apart from others:
Personalized Service: I provide a high level of personalized service. This means understanding each client’s unique needs and preferences and tailoring the approach accordingly.
Local Expertise: Deep knowledge of the local market, including neighborhoods, schools, and community trends, can make a significant difference. Being able to offer detailed insights and advice can set a realtor apart and give them the upper hand. I pride myself on dedicating time daily to continued education in regards to the market and trends.
Strong Network: Building and maintaining a strong network of contacts, including other realtors, potential buyers, and local service providers, can be a major advantage. I try to make sure everyone I encounter knows that I am a realtor. It’s very important to promote yourself. I think of myself as a walking billboard.
Effective Communication: Clear, transparent, and timely communication helps build trust and keeps clients informed throughout the buying or selling process. I have heard multiple times from both agents and potential clients that my communication/responsiveness is top tier.
Innovative Marketing: Leveraging technology and creative marketing strategies, such as virtual tours, social media, and targeted advertising, has attracted more interest. Social media and being consistent on there is very important for my career. Brand awareness is also very important. People want to work with someone they can’t relate with, so letting people get to know you via social media can have a positive impact on your business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If anyone knows me they know I like to have a good time. I am a social butterfly and I like meet new people from all walks of life. Food would have to be apart of all outing because I love my belly! lol.
Anvil Bar a Refuge has some of the best handcrafted cocktails! This is definitely my go to spot for a “Dark & Stormy”.
Tiger 2 Dozen has me in a chokehold when it comes to his Chargrilled Oysters!! Hands down some of the best in the city!
I am of Caribbean decent (Grenadian to be exact) so I like finding events where I can embrace and enjoy my culture and all it has to offer. The Socialites Marketing Group throws some of the best Caribbean/Afro events in Houston. So every chance that I have to attend any of their events I take full advantage of doing so.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, and foremost I would have to thank my family and my friends. All of my friends (my village) have supported me from day one. There is so many to name but they know who they are and I am forever grateful. My husband has been my #1 supporter from day one. Real Estate has been something I wanted to pursue for a very long time now and he pushed me to go for it and helped with he startup cost. I also have to shoutout my mother. She has been supporting me and ALLLL of my entrepreneurial endeavors from day one. Every single time she poured money and time into me and my dreams. I am forever grateful for her and her support. Lastly, I have to thank my broker Courtney O and her brokerage Collective Realty Co. Courtney has been a very important factor to my new found career path. She has been a great mentor and leader. I will forever be grateful for all of her wisdom, knowledge and her willingness to share it all. For every person that has ever reposted, referred, liked or commented on behalf of me and my real estate services THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
