We had the good fortune of connecting with Chez McGavock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chez, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After working in multiple industries, I felt it was time to stop working for other people dreams and start working on mine. I’ve always been a t shirt, jeans, converse kind of guy so I thought it would dope to start my own t shirt brand.

Canna Town was created to bring hometown pride and the love for cannabis together. The main logo is a skyline embedded into cannabis leaf which symbolizes how we want to break the stigma of cannabis one town at a time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Canna Town is more than a brand, it’s a community of people who share the love for cannabis and wants to educate the masses on how special this plant can be.

We allow the community to help make Canna Town what it is, for example every town/city logo has been designed by someone from that specific town/city. That graphic designer also has say in two tshirt color combinations of the shirts.

I would have to say what has made me most proud is the fact that I made my dream into reality and that there are Canna Town shirts all over the United States and as far as South Africa.

Looking back over Canna Town’s first year, it has been a very long process but well worth it. Each day brings it’s own challenges from time management, making sure customers are getting their items, to just learning how to be a business owner in general.

If I could give some advice, I would tell everyone to find what they are passion about and find a way to make that your job so they in all honesty you’re not actually working because its something you love to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
By far, my favorite place to go is Axelrad. Very diverse crowd and each day they have something different going on. Post HTX is a dope place to check out and be downtown. Definitely gotta go check out all the sport teams.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I have an amazing support circle of family and friends who have played a huge part in the success of Canna Town. From just believing in my dreams, to help fund, to giving me honest opinions, to being models in photoshoot, the list goes on. Canna Town would not exist without them, for that I am grateful and thankful.
