We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrishana Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chrishana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind my business came from my layoff during COVID in 2020. Growing up and going through my early twenties I always said I wanted to be a business owner in beauty or fashion. Once I got laid off I felt like that gave me the push, time and opportunity I needed to start. I have always had the worst of luck when it came to jobs, Every time I started working for a job I loved, I would get laid off! It really started to get depressing. This last time I told myself I wanted and needed a back up plan for the future and so Pretty Me Brows was created!
What should our readers know about your business?
Pretty Me Brows specializes in semi permanent brow services in north Houston and surrounding areas. I have been in business over a year now and its the best decision I have made for myself. I believe what sets me apart from others is the quality of my work, the vibe that I give my clients and my customer service. I believe I am a very down to earth and relatable person, so I try to make my clients feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible. We have girl talk while listening to good music lol. We laugh, we talk and they walk out with beautiful brows. I have recently relocated and I am so proud of how far I have come and the quality of my work. Getting this far in my business journey wasn’t and still isn’t easy. Things have happened that have been beyond my control. I have days where I question myself but being spiritual and constantly motivating myself and getting support from clients, friends and family has kept me going. Some lessons that I have learned along the way is procrastination is your worst enemy and how important time management is. Pretty me brows is all about women and beauty! I LOVE seeing the reactions on my clients faces. Some of them get their brows done because of medical reasons that have caused them to loose their eyebrows, they want to make their morning routine easier or just to boost self confidence. Just knowing that I made a difference in their life’s by giving them one less thing to worry about.. makes everything worth it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
During the week we would go to some places for breakfast and dinner like Abouzy, Joey Uptown, Taste Bar, ROOTS and Gatsby steakhouse. Friday night we would go out to on Washington and do some bar hopping and to hangout. Saturday start off with some shopping at the galleria and go to Ador for drinks and hookah. End the week off with Sunday brunch at KISS or Thirteen ( soo good!), then finish off with some Sunday funday at Chapman and Kirby.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to two people. My daughter Jurnee who is my motivation and reason for everything I do. Also, my fiancé Airester, who supports, encourages and motivates me everyday to follow my dreams and to be great in any and everything I do…I love yal !
