We had the good fortune of connecting with Christa Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christa, what’s your definition for success?
When it comes to success, I believe you should celebrate all of your achievements whether they are big or small. For example, when I got my first tumbler order, I was ECSTATIC and I celebrated by dancing in my living room. But even in the times where I don’t have any orders at all, but I still have people reaching out inquiring about how they can order, it is still success because I am reaching a goal of having a buzz about my business. As long as you are reaching goals and milestones, whether it is about making a dollar or reaching out to the community in a multitude of ways, you are a success!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My custom tumbler business is everything to me! It is like this baby that I have been raising since 2020 and like most parents with a baby, I learn as I go. There have been many mistakes I learned from and a lot of trial and error I have experienced with creating my tumblers. I get most excited when my clients tells me that I brought their vision to life and with my added “razzle dazzle” it ended up coming out better than they imagined. I have always had a creative mind and when I envision something, I can execute it. I like to say I get it from my mom. With each error I made, I learned that it is okay to mess up and it is okay for others to see it too! Most people only want to show the good side of owning a business and the “success” they are having, but they never tell you what they went through to get there. I am about spreading knowledge to those who would like to lend a listening ear. Sip N’ Style is a brand that I want the world to know, not just a hobby. When you turn your cup up when drinking, my logo is there and it embodies sass, attitude, and a burst of bubbly personality!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it’s crawfish season, on Tuesdays, I would take them to BB’s for happy hour and the 5 lbs for $35 deal. The Texas Twister is a drink that will get you right! If it’s not crawfish season, we can always hit a Taco Tuesday spot. On Wednesday, I would take them to Pappasitos where it is Fajita night. They have the best Tex-Mex food in the city with the best top shelf margaritas. Friday’s or Saturdays, we have to hit up Five Central. They have 5 clubs in one building and one of them has live music and the singers are BOMB! Sunday we have to go to church first and then we can do Sunday Funday at Kamp Houston, Address, or Seaside.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The people I give credit to is my family. They have always been in my corner with whatever I wanted to do and supported me in every way they could whether it was ordering from me, helping me with pop up shops, or simply asking me what it is that I need. I love them dearly and couldn’t have been blessed with a better village.
