We had the good fortune of connecting with Christal Crockett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I purpose behind my business is simply to make an impact. For so long I have hid in the back ground because I was afraid to use my voice. Now, I realize my voice is important and I am determined to change lives through mentorship, prayer, public speaking and my lifestyle.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My business was birthed after experiencing an unfortunate miscarriage in summer 2019. I was broken and honestly was in a cycle of guilt and shame for a while. Being a person of strong faith I was led to do a prayer night with a few ladies at my house in September 2019. After that prayer night, I realized what my purpose was. Now in 2021 I am preparing to launch a youth mentorship program, digital and physical products for Christians as well as other business ideas. This journey has been far from easy. I begin my career in education in 2016. I was an educator for four years, but I never felt fulfilled in the classroom. I was a dedicated teacher, but I always left work feeling drained and sometimes upset. I knew it was more to life for me. I continued to show up until I was able to resign from the k-12 sector. I was able to truly pour into my business to grow and learn. Now, I am almost at a point where I will be able to launch and pour into the youth to help them live boldly in confidently in the skin they are in.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Houston! It is so much to do and see that you truly would need more than a week to take in our city. I would give them a restaurant tour each day and visit some fun places around town. Monday we would visit Breakfast Klub and do museum tours in the museum district. Tuesday we would visit First Watch and visit The Color Factory. Wednesday we would eat at Mia’s table in Clear Lake and hang at Baybrook mall Thursday we would eat at Mikki’s Soulfood Cafe in Pearland and do some arts and crafts at The Rustic Brush Friday we would eat at Hop Doddy and do a fun day at the Zoo, Hermann Park, and top our evening off by doing a bike tour of downtown. Saturday we would eat at Bloom & Bee inside of Post Oak Hotel and get a massage at Milk + Honey. Sunday we would visit Cyclone Anayas and spend a fun day at Typhoon Texas in Katy Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have quite a few people who have pushed me into purpose however there are 4 people who have made a huge impact on my life and business. My husband, my mother, my best friend, and my faith/business coach have truly been an anchor in my life. I won’t go into detail because I could write a book, but I will say they all cheer me on and don’t kill my dreams. They recognize the gifts and talents I have and have kept me on track when I start getting outlandish ideas. I truly thank them for pushing me and being a listening ear when I needed to vent, talk ideas out, cry, or just relax.
