We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Learning how to properly deal with and process your emotions is incredibly important. Good Mental Health is essential to me and I always advocate for others to prioritize their mental health. Success starts in your mind, a lot of people take the time to physically prepare for their goals: get the degrees they need, receive training, take care of their body, and all of that is important but being mentally fit is just as important. If you’re not in the proper mental state you will not be able to accomplish all that you need/desire. #mentalhealthmatters

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an author, an actress, and a dancer but most importantly I’m a human committed to helping others on their journey. The past three years have been about healing from past pain and disappointments for me. My art is an outlet for my healing journey. I express my emotions in a way that helps heal my heart but helps others heal as well. My book Getting to Okay discusses my personal journey of healing but also encourages others to heal from past and current pain and deal with their emotions head-on. Rather I am writing, dancing, or acting I make sure I connect each project to who I am as a person and find a way to tell the story in a way that inspires others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sure! Here are some of my favorites. Brunch spots I would take them to would include; Jupiter pizza and Waffles Co. and Chapman and Kirby. Attractions would include; the Water Wall Park, Memorial Herman Park, and Discovery Green. Bars; Secret garden and Bar Louie and we would finish the night by going to see a show at the Ensemble theatre or the Hobby Center.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A large part of my success is due to my deceased boyfriend Blake. Our relationship was incredibly special to me, in that it taught me how beautiful true love can be and that there is someone who will love you in the way that you desire. I am the woman I am today both because of the love he surrounded me with but also because of the lessons I learned while dealing with his death. It was through his passing that I learned how to deal with life’s worst moments and how to overcome grief and depression. I’m forever grateful for the privilege of having him in my life for the amount of time that I did. Thank you and love you always Blake.
