We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Lockett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am a native of Houston and come from a lineage that emphasized the importance of loving yourself, your family and Christ. Having been raised in the church at a very early age and coming from a strong Christian background, has mentally, emotionally and spiritually prepared me for life. I am very confident and proud of how my parents raised me. The values that my parents have inculcated in me has stayed with me in my adult life and has helped to shape and mold me into the person I am today. I credit my upbringing for giving me such a great sense of increased purpose in life and allowing me to have an understanding of the meaning of life. Because of my background and upbringing, I am the strong, vibrant, motivated achiever that you see today.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an educator by profession and love what I do. My passion for teaching comes from my love for todays youth and wanting to be influential in their future. My journey to becoming a teacher was not easy and came with a lot of sacrifices which were all worth it. I was a single parent and going to school all while balancing the ups and downs of life. Although it got rough at times, I knew i could not give up, it wasn’t an option. I drew my strength from my Christian upbringing, my family, friends and those who supported and believed in me. My determination made me stay focus and stay the course even when I felt like giving up. Even with a professional career, I still felt like there was something in life that still needed to be birthed from me. I had more purpose in me. I was destined for greater. It was from my life experiences that helped me transition from educator to author and a media personality. I wanted to encourage others who were going through similar life experiences, give hope to the hopeless, and inspire those who felt purposeless, Today I stand as a achiever, I follow my heart and intuition and never allow problems to hinder me. I believe that their is a silver lining in every situation. I am proud of myself for making a difference and I am both happy and grateful. I have grown into the best version of me and making my time count. I have been honest with myself and others. All of these attributes line up with who I am and what I brand myself on in every spectrum of my life.
