We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Rubio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cindy, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Knowledge is confidences “ this quote here is so important to me. What this means is the more knowledge you have in this this industry the more confidence you will have. You can’t work on someone’s hair not being confident. You are most likely boosting there confidences. This industry is forever growing in techniques and products you must make sure to always get the knowledge in order to be confidence.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is creating individual looks for each of my clients that would suite them and there lifestyle . What sets me apart would be my customer service, I love to do my best to give my client the best experience possible. Going the extra step to make sure the placements , tones , integrity of the hair is good. Also triple checking haircuts making sure everything flows together.

I’m most excited / proud about my growth ,
When I started working at Paul Mitchell the school Houston. I got to meet many talented hair artist the way the presented the way they created beautiful end results. I wanted the same for myself.

Where I am today and why …. lots and lots of practice. Saying yes more and challenging myself. I did a lot of free hair! Lots of discounted hair!
I’ve been in many classes for extra training. Till this day I get on mannequins at home to practice my craft. I have to say 90% of my life revolves around hair. Now a days you have access to many online hair videos . Which I watch ! I have had my fair shares of failed hair results but I always try to reflect and learn from it and rise from it. Definitely is a journey and tears and sweat and being defeated mentally and physically is involved but I love this industry!

The lessons I’ve learned you can’t please everyone you still give it 100% and do your best.

What I would like people to know is I truly have loved hair since I can remember, my entire life before entering school was at my moms salon since I was one ,my mom has owned her salon , till this day she remains open. She taught me many things it’s a honor to show her a few things. My studio will expand into a bigger thing. And I plan to create extra education for all the cosmetologist out there.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friend is in town we would definitely have to do my morning ritual and get my basic coffee at Starbucks. We would go to my favorite breakfast places like Harris county smokehouse, Viva Jalisco’s. We would have to do some shopping at the local malls. Site see downtown go to discover green. Go to a water park because it’s always nice to have some fun in the sun! I would also say the Zoo because who doesn’t love seeing cute animals. We would definitely have to get some mani and pedicures at my favorite local nail bar. And for lunch and dinner you can’t go wrong with Mexican food, Italian oh and wings my fave. Have some drinks at BRIX Wine Cellars , Mambos seafood food has great micheladas. I would also like to take her to a few museums like the color factory. And just enjoy and have fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my husband, he has been extremely supportive. Opening my studio he was the one really reassuring me it was time and I was ready for the first part of my dream. I appreciate the moments of support ! Also my mother although she wanted me to take a different route she has always supported me and gave me the encouragement when I needed it.
