We had the good fortune of connecting with Clinton Elliott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clinton, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
It’s pivotal for your development as an artist to take risks; however great the risk may be. Since moving to Brooklyn, risk taking has become inevitable for me. I find joy in leaving the comfort zone and discovering something greater about yourself and your art. Why must you be afraid to fail? There’s no fun in that! As a young artist, taking risks is quite intimidating and I understand. Let go of expectations and believe in your capabilities. Tap into your intuition. You’ll be surprised by what you can achieve.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
These questions always puzzle me; I have trouble translating my art into words. That conversation roots from the feeling and connection you share with it. I believe each piece will speak for itself. My works been ever-evolving the past four years as I’ve taken on new mediums, and I’ve been shooting for eight. It’s never an easy journey but I wouldn’t say it’s difficult either. I don’t view it in that sense. This is my soul passion and I know the challenges and obstacles you’ll face will only benefit you. There’s lessons to be found within our failures, but allowing fear to overcome you will be detrimental. To understand my story, I encourage you to join me on my journey to self discovery. Follow my socials and stay connected. I’ll leave you with a beloved quote from Steve Jobs, “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow know what you truly want to become.”
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Where credit is due, I would be nothing without my team/roommates/family, that is Enmi Yang, Kevin Tecson, and Andrew Okano. Do yourself a favor and find them on Instagram or something. Also, wish to shoutout my good friends that have continued to hold it down in Houston throughout the years; the city appreciates you. Josh Allen, Nel, Yen, Librado, Ruby, Gia, Kringe, and HVN.
